Unusual amount of inbound traffic on ubuntu VM

Copper Contributor

Hi everyone,

I'm currently hosting an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS VM on my Azure test account. For the last 3 weeks I've seen unusual amounts of inbound traffic on the machine, sometimes about 2 or 3 TB data per day.

Using nethogs I was able to identify that the traffic is caused by the WA Linux Agent opening connections on port 443 to different ip addresses (I've checked a few of them and all were Microsoft Azure public IP).

Unfortunately this really cripples the perfomance of the applications I'm running on the machine.

I've already installed the latest WA linux agent version, but that didn't fix the issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar in the past weeks?

Sincerely,

Martin
