Disaster recovery for Azure Data Factory

Copper Contributor

Hi Team,

We currently have a question about Azure data factory disaster recover. Is it possible to have a way to automated detect one ADF region failure and turn on another region’s ADF? I searched on the documentation but not found any thing about that. The documentation mentioned about “Integration runtime” Auto-resolve but it is not much details about how to resolve if the whole region failed.

Thanks advance,

Having the same issue - I cannot find any useful information in Microsoft documentation that explains any of this!! Very frustrating!

By default ADF has 99.9% SLA towards HA and the DR is catered by the paired region. Look for paired region here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/best-practices-availability-paired-regions. In case of DR the RPO and RTO is set to 24 hours which means there is going to be some metadata loss and 24 hours of time to failover. the failovers are automatic so the customer doesnt have to do anything. all the jobs which were in running state will fail during Disaster. For the RPO and RTO of Azure services look at this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/archive/blogs/cloud_solution_architect/understanding-rpo-and-rto-c.... Also in case of IR we follow the best practice by setting the region setting to "Auto resolve". So that during a DR the IR adjusts automatically to the paired region. For SHIR make sure you create multiple nodes .. refer this for more details: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-factory/create-self-hosted-integration-runtime?tabs=dat...
