Surface Pro 10 with Snapdragon Processor and Printer Installation Problems
Greetings all. I took the plunge and picked up a Surface Pro 10 with the Snapdragon Elite processor to use for my work computer. So far, things have gone pretty smoothly and I have all of my regular applications installed and functioning. There is, however, one area that the Surface Pro with ARM architecture appears to be totally unusable: Windows Printer Drivers. I have installed Adobe Acrobat, the current cloud version on the Surface Pro and Acrobat seem to run okay, but no matter what I've tried, the Adobe PDF printer will not install. There are several ways to install the Adobe PDF printer manually and even an older patch to get it to install, but none of them work. I also tried to install printer drivers for several Brother printers and a Canon printer but they all fail to install. Sometimes they generate an install error and other times they simply fail to complete the installation and hang. Here I am referring to the official Windows drivers supplied by the printer manufacturer that include any supporting utilities such as Brother's Control Center for scanning documents. None of them will successfully install. I spent the afternoon working with Brother to try various things to install the printers, but nothing worked. They finally recommended that I contact Microsoft, so I did that too and they couldn't get anything to work either. When I received a follow up email from Microsoft, the technician and marked the case as solved and closed it, even though nothing worked. Now, if I install the printers from Windows 11, letting Windows discover the Brother printers, Windows will install a driver that I can print with and even recognizes the scanning capabilities but the scanning software that Microsoft provides for free won't scan to a .PDF file. So, while I can get the printers to work, I cannot access the "normal" printer drivers and utilize the manufacturer-supplied utilities with the printers. This limits their usefulness considerably. I haven't yet been able to get Windows 11 to recognize and add the Canon printer. I believe this to be a Microsoft problem with their ARM-compatibility app, whatever it is called, but I'm not sure how to go about getting feedback to Microsoft to get them to look into this. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?9.3KViews2likes5CommentsCritical Pen Hover & Stray Ink Issue on New Surface Pro 11 for Business with Slim Pen 2
Hello Microsoft Community and Support Staff, I am writing to report a critical and seemingly widespread issue with the pen input on the brand-new Surface Pro for Business, 13-inch (Intel model, often called Surface Pro 11 "Luna Lake"). The Core Problem: Pen Draws Without Touching the Screen When using the Surface Slim Pen 2, the device begins to register ink input while the pen is still hovering a few millimeters above the screen. It does not require any physical contact or pressure. This "hover-inking" makes handwriting completely unusable. As I write, any time I lift the pen to start a new letter or stroke, the pen continues to draw a line as it moves through the air to its next position. This results in messy, connected handwriting with unwanted "tails," completely defeating the purpose of having a premium inking device. This is Not a Defective Unit - It's a Replicable Problem Initially, I thought I had a faulty device. However, to isolate the issue, I have performed extensive testing: I have personally tested this on [3] brand-new Surface Pro 11 (Intel) devices. I have used [4] different Slim Pen 2s. The exact same hover-inking problem occurred on every single combination of device and pen. Furthermore, I have already performed all standard troubleshooting steps, including: Clean OS installation via Surface Recovery Image. Ensuring all Windows, driver, and firmware updates are installed. Running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (which reported no errors). However, the same issue continues to occur even after trying these methods. Additionally, it has been reported that the issue also appears on the latest Surface Pro 12-inch model with the Snapdragon X Plus, just like on the Surface Pro 11 that uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite instead of Intel’s Lunar Lake. (I do not own any Snapdragon devices myself. If you own a Snapdragon device and are experiencing the same issue, please share your feedback.)" Video Evidence: I have recorded a clear video demonstrating the problem. It shows the pen drawing while hovering on the Surface Pro 11 and makes unwanted tails on handwriting letters. Video Link: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLG_7BXFA-cL4evqe0RmRz--iFjDC1HVgT&si=EmEypaAqSyRozr67 Questions for Microsoft: Is this a known issue with the new Surface Pro 11 (Intel) model's firmware or drivers? What are the official steps to escalate this issue directly to the Surface engineering team for a fix? This is a major flaw in a flagship product that severely impacts its core functionality. I have submitted a formal bug report through the Feedback Hub, which can be found here: Feedback Hub Link: https://aka.ms/AAxzh27 I urge the Microsoft team to investigate this with high priority and release a firmware or software update to recalibrate the pen's Initial Activation Force (IAF). Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.359Views7likes4CommentsMiracast by end of 2025?
It is now 2026. MS said early last year that Miracast was coming to SurfaceHubs by the end of 2025 and I haven't seen an update since. Has anyone seen something maybe I haven't? Why aren't there more posts about this exact topic? It seems like this should be core functionality...88Views0likes1CommentSurface Pro 7+ - multiple errors
Help. I installed some hardware updates, and now my Surface is stuck in blue screen loop. The loop starts with a black screen saying "Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. You can restart." with "Stop code: KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (0x139)" at the bottom. (the device doesn't turn off on it's own at this point at all) When I turn it off and turn it on again, it goes into blue screen with 0xc0000001 error, only F8 and F10 keys are working. Then "File: \WINDOWS\system32\winload.efi" with error code 0xc0210000, again only F8 and F10 are working. Then BitLocker requiring a key. I input the key, and then get 9 options - and none are working. Whichever I press, the loop starts again. Sometimes I get a black screen "Edit Windows boot options for: Windows 11 Path: \WINDOWS\system32\winload.efi Partition: {(a long sequence)} Hard disk: {(a long sequence)} [ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /HYPERVISORLAUNCHTYPE=AUTO /FVEBOOT=2125824 /NOVGA (edition line here)]" I've tried making a USB with recovery image, but the Surface doesn't read it fully - my USB has a tiny light, and it flickers for a few seconds only when I choose options 4-6 (they're safe modes), but then it goes back into the reset loop. I've tried searching for solutions, but I can't find any that answers all 4 at the same time; and when I'm searching individually all of them say "wait till Windows boots, and then go to Start menu"... and I obviously can't do that since Windows doesn't boot. Any ideas?? I feel hopeless :(((((( (sorry for any spelling or translation mistakes, my Windows (and I lol) operates in Polish)Solved277Views0likes5Commentssurface pro x for business needs constant graphics driver reset, how to fix?
I have a surface pro x for business that is up to date and has no company or IT restrictions, it is my device for home use and I have control of everything. I am noticing that whenever my device wakes up from sleep, restarts, or turn on after shutting down, I have to do ctrl+shift+windows key+B to get all the content to fit into the screen. For instance, if I have the microsoft store page open, and my windows are maximized (I even tried this on several browsers after minimizing and maximizing again) the bottom of the page at any given position does not fit the screen. Another example is ctrl+f, I cannot see that bar that searches and highlights the result or on word I cannot see the bootm row that has word count and language until I reset the graphics driver. I saw an optional update and it temporarily fixed it but the issue has returned. Any advice on how to fix this on windows 11 (I have the i7)?30Views0likes0CommentsSurface Laptop Power Issues?
Hi, I have a Surface Laptop that’s 5? 6? years old. The other day it acted like it was no longer connected to AC power and shutdown when the battery got low. It was plugged in the whole time. The power adapter lights up when connected to the laptop like there is no issue. I took it to Best Buy to try one of their adapters and they let it sit, plugged in, for 5 minutes but it does not look to be charging. Pressing the power causes it to act like it turns on, but displays a battery on the screen after the Microsoft logo. My only recourse seems to be to ship it to uBreakIFix but I would like to avoid that route. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you, Mike37Views0likes0CommentsPoor Audio/Video Quality in Microsoft Surface Hub 3
When Teams meetings are hosted from our large meeting rooms using Surface Hub 3 85 inches devices, internal participants (both in the room or within the building) experience no issues - audio and video are clear and stable. However, when external participants join these meetings (from outside our network), external participants consistently experience: Poor audio quality: Voices intermittently cut in and out, particularly when someone is speaking from a distance away from the Surface Hub. Unstable video: The camera appears to struggle with focus, causing visual disruptions. This issue has been confirmed across multiple external users and locations, indicating it is not isolated to individual end-user setups.142Views1like2CommentsWill the 26H1 be available to Snapdragon-powered Surface Laptop 7?
The news mentioned that the next Windows 11 update is specifically for Snapdragon-powered X2 ARM64 PCs. Since Surface Laptop 7 is also using the same ARM architecture, would it be great if these laptops receive the same update so that the performance will be optimized too?141Views1like1CommentSurface Laptop Studio (1) No Surface monitor driver
Surface Laptop Studio/Win 10 Pro upgraded to Win 11 Pro/Iris Xe graphics Event History: I Use 2 monitors, Surface screen and external. One day my I noticed my Surface went blank. Device manager showed no Surface Monitor Driver, and display was Iris Xe. Microsoft support chat: had me download and install a new .msi file - problem solved. 3 days later, same problem. (on boot the Win icon showed up on my external monitor and not the Surface screen). So, I re-ran the .msi file. This time BOTH screens went blank. after many failed Shift+Power and Volume Up+Power reboots, I gave up. The next morning I tried again and Wa-La! the external monitor showed up. This time Device manager showed Display Adapter as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (not the Iris Xe, and NO Surface driver. Only the external monitor driver. I contacted MS support again - they linked me to a different .msi file. I was hesitant to run it, but I did . . and Poof! No more monitors at all. During this time I could hear Win boot system sound, so I new I as at the PIN screen. I could hit Space +my PIN but I couldn't see anything. I even tried WinKey+Shift+Ctrl+B to reset the display, to no avail. I continued many Shift+Power and Volume Up+Power attempts. Nothing helped. I finally gave up and waited several hours. Tried again, and Wa-La, the external monitor is now back! (I haven't shut it down since!) Device manager/Display is MBDA and still NO Surface monitor driver. I have run the Surface Diagnostic and it shows I need to install the Iris Xe, but it won't install. It says "failed" and try again. I'm guessing I have a hardware issue either with loose cables, or bad graphics card? Which ever, I'm afraid of it now. I used Macrium Reflect to build an image of my C: drive (really don't want to re-install all my software). I have purchased a newer Surface Laptop Studio 2. It is supposed to come with Win 11 Pro Question: If I restore my image to the new device: will it restore the failed graphics driver? will it restore MY version of Win 11 Pro (with proper Product Key/Activation Key/PIN etc)? Should I keep the newer Win 11 Pro and all associated drivers and just re-install all my software? (I have all my files on an external USB) Please advise . . .96Views0likes3CommentsUnable To Install Canon Pixma G1010 With Microsoft Surface 7th Edition

Hi. Would anyone know if Outlook Legacy works on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 with the Snapdragon Elite chip? I cant handle the "New Outlook", as it is missing many of the features that I love on the Legacy version. I am on a Mac, and want to switch back to PC, but need to confirm this before I choose Snapdragon or Intel. Thanks!174Views0likes1CommentSurface Hub 2s with MTR-W no Miracast support!
We have 3 Surface Hubs 2S, which are recently have been updated to MTR-W (W11) (What a bummer...) What we desperately need is Miracast support! We've tried to set this up with the admin account, and once you are in admin mode you are able to configure 'Projecting to this PC' but back in normal mode, you can't use Miracast (Windows-K) anymore. I've read Miracast will become available for Surface Hub 3 but there are no plans to support the Surface Hub 2s. Anyone out there who is/was facing the same problem? Did you manage to solve this? If so, how did you solve this? Thank you, Gerrit158Views0likes0CommentsWifi issues - need to configure wifi for Machine based authentication
All our devices now do not connect to the government available wifi called GovWifi. This is due to the fact the way the devices sign in using Windows 11 with the Skype account having no security assigned to it as it auto signs in. Is there a way to create an xml script or setting to allow this wifi to be set as machine based authentication please. These Windows 11 MTR builds have been very troublesome and we've experienced issue after issue since implementing these builds, so suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks Michael44Views0likes0CommentsPlease restore HDMI screen share via Share button and Miracast screen sharing after migration to MTR
The changes you have made make no sense whatsoever and are not end-user friendly. In our company, all MTR-based rooms have an HDMI cable available for screen sharing and I find it hard to understand why you have stripped these two functionalities from Surface Hubs after the migration (especially as Miracast worked brilliantly on SH2S!).846Views3likes3CommentsTrouble Activating Ultimate Performance Plan on My Surface Laptop
Hi everyone, I’m trying to enable the Ultimate Performance power plan on my Surface device. I’ve already used the command powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61, and it shows up in my system. However, when I try to activate it using powercfg /setactive [GUID], I get an “Invalid Parameters” error—even though the GUID matches exactly what was listed under powercfg /list. My current active plan is “High performance” (custom-made). Has anyone else encountered this issue on a Surface laptop? Is this plan blocked or incompatible with certain Surface models, or am I missing a step? Would appreciate any insights or tips! Thank you so much for your attention and participation.254Views0likes1CommentCan I install "Windows Team" on a PC?
I have a 75" display touch, I have a computer with core i7, 2TB SSD, 32GB RAM, and a GPU 6GB. Can I install "Windows Team" on a PC? I want the functionality to use the computer but, I also want the ability to access to my meetings and files as the Hub 2s, from the inital screen of the system. There is a way to configure that? Best regards2.8KViews1like3CommentsSmart Charging
If Microsoft hasn't already done so, it should explain its reasoning for denying users the option of activating Smart Charging. Microsoft certainly knows users have important reasons for wanting to control that. My computer only knows how it's been used. I know how I will be using it. So there must be some less-than-obvious reason for restricting that. Users have control of options that, on the surface, appear much more dangerous than controlling whether battery level charges to 80 percent or 100 percent.38Views0likes0CommentsPresenter Remote Controllers Issue
Since migration to Win11 - The hub remotes have lost functionality. Previously they could be used to move slideshows in PowerPoint along, now all the remote can be used for is volume up or down. Will this feature be restored? Is it linked to the fact you cannot move the slides along on the surface hub screen now either, which again is frustrating.33Views0likes0Commentshow to move my win 11 activation to a new machine?
So, my Surface Laptop Studio 1 display driver must have gone bad. I understand it is built into the motherboard. I purchased a new Studio 2 and would like to move all my stuff to it including the OS. But I understand that the Win 11 Pro OEM version cannot be moved. Now what? I can't move my OS and stuff to a new machine, and I can't replace the motherboard without losing my Win 11 Pro activation? How do I resolve this?26Views0likes0Comments
