External user upgraded account to O365. Unable to access our environment.

Brass Contributor

Hello!

We have an external user who prior to upgrading their account to O365 was able to access our SharePoint site. Now they seem unable to gain access to the shared site/folder.

We've tried removing and adding permissions/sharing for this user.

Removing and recreating the user group and adding everyone back in.

Removing the permissions for said group and re-adding them.

Not sure what else to try here. Does anyone else have any suggestions, or has run into this problem before?

This is a SharePoint online environment.

Thanks!

We've run into similar issues with and resolved it by removing the users completely from the site collection (site settings - people and groups - change group ID to 0), find the user and delete them. For good measure we also delete from the Users list in Office Admin Center (you have to be a Global Admin for that one). After that we sent a brand new invitation to the user, made sure they had cleared their cache out before excepting it and voila it worked. Make sure that they select Microsoft account managed by their company now where as they previously would have chosen the other option.

Hope that helps as well for you as it did for us!
