Teams status not changing from Active

Hi there,

I've recently started using a Yealink MP56 Business Smart Phone and signed in there with my Microsoft account using MS Teams to make calls. I am signed into Teams on the desk phone and also on my computer. However, the issue is that now my Teams' status does not change from Active to Away automatically. This becomes a problem as I'll have people trying to make contact assuming I'm available when in fact away from my desk.

Prior to using the MS Teams phone my status would change whenever idle for a certain period or locking Windows as one would expect.

Is there anyway around this? or is the only solution now to have to manually change my status each time?

Thanks,

Adam

    Hi Adam,

Did you ever find anything out on this problem? I can confirm what you described is a repeatable issue. We recently deployed Yealink MP54, 56 and 58 Teams desk phones to 80% of users at one location. Every user who received a MP54 or MP56 has had their Teams presence stuck on “Available” continuously since the roll out (been almost 2 months now). Issue has persisted through at least one Yealink firmware update.

Presence for users assigned an MP58 (or no desk phone) behaves normally. We had one user assigned a MP54 who suffered from incorrect presence issue for a week before it went back to normal. Upon review we found his phone’s login token had expired and signed him out. As soon as he re-did (http://microsoft.com/devicelogin) sign in, Teams presence issue came back.

We’ve tried clicking “reset status” on both user’s teams desktop client AND on the Yealink phones themselves.

One other piece of evidence it’s the phones: we had a power outage long enough for UPS on PoE user switches to die but not switches powering out AP’s (that is, desk phones went dead but user’s idle laptops could still connect to wifi). During that outage all malfunctioning user’s presence changed from “Available” (incorrect) to “away” (correct). Once power and phones came back on in middle of night all MP54/56 user’s presence changed back to “Available”.

Hopefully you or someone else out there has figured out the trick to this annoying bug!

    Thanks,
    Ed

Have you heard any updates on this issue?  We're piloting a Teams Voice rollout and using MP54 and MP56 devices and have noticed the same. I'm always available, even with the phone locked, my laptop off, my mobile not signed into Teams app - always green due to the phone.

We've reached out to Yealink but have not heard back yet.

Hello people, apperently we have found an workaround or solution, atleast on the T55A which we are using.
We are on the newest FW-58.15.0.168. So our solution was to turn on screensaver mode on the Teams Phone in Settings -> Device Settings -> Display. Then you activate the screensaver and put the waiting time on what ever u want (recommend 1-3mins) and after around 3-5 mins AFTER screensaver activation your status will change to away, if your not active on any other device.

I hope someone will help this.

This is basically what we did and it works. Wish we didn't need to lock the screen or wait for a time out though.

adammicrosoft  Any updates on this? the status light takes a very long time to update on the phone itself. The computer app is fine. Its the phone icon themselves. I hope they have a fix soon!

@joshcatone adammicrosoft I would love to know if there is an update as well. I have a support ticket in with Microsoft ATM. They came back with literally 10 things for me to do on the phone. Which is confusing since according to Yealink, this is a know Microsoft problem. I do not understand why I need to jump through fire to prove my experience with every user in my company, that has a Yealink MP56. Does anyone know if the Poly Teams phones have this issue?

adammicrosoft Yea I do not think its any of our internal settings. Its either Yealink or Micro or both of them. I will let you know if Yealink emails me back. I am not even trying with Micro support. As of now I will tell my team to use the computer app for status indication and not the phone itself. I hope they fix it because everything else is awesome!! The headset WH66 is the best one we have ever used. I got them for my whole team along with the MP58 with the Bluetooth receivers.

Hi all is there any update on this issue , we are playing now for 2 Years with this issue on MP54 or earlier with the T55A. We tried some settings for power saving mode, but without luck.
Maybe is there a way to avoid all persence updates by the Teams Phone ?
    Thanks

Nice is MS says it is all Yealink issue

and Yealink says it is an MS issue.

Any progress on this? I have just bought an MP54 and experiencing the same issue.

Also, does anyone know if there is an easy way to put on a DND? Like if the user is away from desk and wants to stop calls interrupting the surrounding users?
