Problems with export Microsoft Project Visual Reports to Excel
Hello, I need to export a visual report from MS Project 2013 to a pivot table in Excel. When I attempt the export, MS Project displays a message stating that I need Excel 2003 or a newer version. I have a newer version, but I am unable to complete the export. What should I do? Folow this message4Views0likes0CommentsProject 2013 not talking to Excel 2019 with Visual Report Export button
In Project 2013 Standard the Visual Report Export stops when I can't find Excel - which is on my computer in 2019 Office. Can I stop it writing an error message and just continue to write the file on my HD? That way I change programmes? The error says "This operation requires that you have Excel 2003 or later installed on your computer." - but it is there!1.2KViews0likes3CommentsTransitioning to Microsoft Planner and retiring Microsoft Project for the web
We are announcing the transition to Planner, integrating Project for the web, To Do, and Planner. In August 2025, we will retire Project for the web, as well as the Project and Roadmap apps in Microsoft Teams. Hi everyone, I usually work in Microsoft Project for the Web, but have just discovered Microsoft Planner and the ability to create portfolios ... which seems pretty smart. I have added a plan (Project for the Web) to the portfolio, but I don't get the option to add more. It's like Teams isn't loading the rest of my created plans (Project for the Web) Has anyone experienced the same problem and possibly found a solution? Best regards, Lasse57Views0likes3CommentsProject for the Web - % complete calc error
Hi, it appears that be the order in which the effort/duration etc. fields are entered/edited, changes the calculation from % of effort completed to a % of time elapsed. When entering a new task, typically I enter those details in the order: Task name Start Finish (accept the calculated duration) Assign a resource Effort (overwriting the calculated effort - typically my resources will only work part-time on project work e.g. 4 days of effort may require 4 weeks duration) Effort completed (amend as needed) Effort remaining (accept the calculated value) % complete (accept the calculated value) ..this works fine - regardless of the start/finish (calculated duration), if I set: effort of 100 days update effort completed to 50 days effort remaining will be 50 days % complete will be 50% However, if I then change the start or finish date – at this point the % complete calc changes to an unknown calculation which is neither % of effort or elapsed time. Even when putting the fields back to their original values, % complete doesn’t return to original value?!826Views1like1CommentSave as a current project to a Project template via Teams Channel
Premium Office 365 for Workplace and Project is available under the Teams channel. I have my current project ready for future projects, and have been trying to create a template, but I could not find the option to save the existing project file structure only. Even though, I save as a copy this with a different name, the copied file works as the original file. I got the same damage on my original Project file after some cleanup in the copied file. There is no UNDO option. I have looked up this Help section about it, but it says I could find a Save As under File, but my Project file under Teams Channel does not have this function. As you see above, there is no option like I guess the Desktop version might have. Even in my Web version does not show File tab. Please advise. Thank you.Solved48Views0likes2CommentsProject for the Web - "Failed to load baseline" error on read-only records
Hello dear community, We have deployed Project for the Web, as well as the Project Accelerator, in a dedicated Dataverse environment. We customized it for our own PPM needs. All works well except an error related to the loading of the baseline when people with a read-only security role try open the Tasks tab of a project. The message says "Failed to load baselines. Please try again later" with a correlation id. It does not block other activities in the Tasks tab though. We checked that they indeed get access through the expected security role. We then experimented changing the permissions: Grant write permission on the 2 baseline related tables (Project Baseline Data, Project Baseline Task Data) => No change. We reverted to read-only on those two table. Grant write permission on the Project table => This resolves the problem For information, we created that security role by copying the Project User role and grant only read permissions on all assigned table for the "Parent: Child Business Unit". Though this indeed seems to resolve the problem, it does not constitute a valid solution since granting unwanted write access. Has any of you encountered similar issues? Hi all, I am currently working on a custom solution that integrates multiple functionalities interacting with Project Online data. As part of a new requirement, whenever a team member submits a task update in timesheet, I aim to provide Project Managers with the ability to approve task updates directly from a custom page. My initial approach was to utilize the Project REST API (_api/ProjectServer), but I have not been able to locate an appropriate endpoint that supports this functionality. Could anyone kindly guide me to the specific REST API endpoint (if available) that can be used to approve task updates? Any insights or alternative approaches would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards Shruti Vyas16Views0likes0CommentsProject Online - Error while approving Timesheet
hi, While approving timesheet, receiving the following error. "An error Occurred while Communicating with the server. Check connectivity with your administrator to determine whether further action is necessary.". This error is occuring only for one user. Verified the RBS of TS submitter and approver, all looks good. Any otherways to investigate this issue?Solved510Views0likes3CommentsCreating a Calendar Template
Good day MS Project Community, I am in need of some assistance, My question to the forum is: Could I create a custom calendar template that takes public holidays, weekends, and an annual shutdown into consideration? I would love to be able to use this in Project for the Web. The snapshot attached above are the 2 templates that were prepopulated in Project before I started working here and I do not have the admin rights to change these. Could I please get some assistance on how to create a new template that can be utilized within Project for the Web? Hi folks Can anyone point me at a detailed guide for configuring the Power BI gantt chart (Microsft's own v3.0..)? I've got some of the basics in place, but I can't find any obvious ways to, for instance: size the timeline so it always fits on one slide when extracted adding % complete and rag status to tasks thanks23Views0likes0CommentsProject Professional 2024 and Project Server SE OIDC Authentication Issue

Hi All, Is there a way to show tasks that are ahead of schedule via the progress bar without moving or changing any of the bars or dates? In simple terms I want to show tasks that are ahead through the progress bar going to the right, but I want to keep the original task date fixed. Imagine printing the schedule out on paper and getting a higlighted and drawing a progress line, whereby a late task you would draw to the left (not started/in progress), a task ahead you would draw the line to the right, and anything complete on time the progress line just runs vertical.57Views0likes2CommentsUpdate Daily progress from excel into MS project

Hello All. Need a fix for Project file issue. and Individual emailed out a Project file to several of us. However, when I open the file some of the dates change from 2023 to 2025 and 2026. I asked one other person who received the file to open it, his dates are the corrrect dates (2023-24). He forwarded me his file, but the dates change upon opening. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THE TASK DATES TO CHANGE WHEN I OPEN THE FILE? I tried closing and reopening Project. Tried saving the file directly from email. a resolution would be much appreciated.1.4KViews0likes11CommentsProject in teams not opening task chat window
Hi, I have been using Microsoft Project for the web and the Teams chat connection with my development team. Unfortunately, something has happened since Thursday 13-02-2025 that means the chat window is not opening for a task (Microsoft Teams -> Channel -> Project -> Task -> Window) It is extremely annoying, as we use the chat to show examples of development (screenshots, etc.) Does anyone have the same problem, or a solution to how to solve the problem?
