I want to open folders which are on my OneDrive directly via the Quick Access list in Windows 10 File Explorer. To do this I add folders to Quick Access via the "Pin current folder to Quick access". However, when I do this, the Quick Access "shortcut" to the folder doesn't open the folder on the OneDrive. Instead, it opens the locally-stored mirror of that folder. (This is the "on demand" cached copy created by OneDrive, I assume). What must I do to achieve what I want, namely that the Quick Access link opens the folder on the OneDrive directly?35KViews0likes3CommentsOnedrive not syncing to file explorer (Windows11)
Hi team, I've recently come across an issue with my one drive suddenly not syncing to my file explorer. I have lost access to viewing my shared documents in file explorer. I can only access my shared files via them default opening in a webpage and not the local file explorer like they used to. I do not have access to change the default program via the "open with" option as I have seen could work - the only option I have is "open" which then opens the webpage. Can anyone help advise how to work around this and regain access to my shared files in file explorer please? Thanks.1.4KViews2likes11CommentsSharepoint columns sync with File Explorer view, or an alternative option
Hi all I'm more an admin person rather than IT, but have been asked to find a solution for one of our directors who prefers to open his documents using File Explorer over Sharepoint online. And before you ask, no he won't change his ways! I need to be able to set up File Explorer to filter/display/order (however you want to name it) project folders synced with Sharepoint according to whether they are: 1/ Active or Complete (status) 2/ under his name as project manager. I thought I had found the answer by adding columns to Sharepoint (see attached a screen shot below), but I have since discovered that those columns do not feed across to File Explorer. The only other solution I have is adding multiple layers of folders to Sharepoint. This will only complicate the library for other users so I am averse to implementing this. Is there a way of tagging or adding some form of metadata to folders that will pass between Sharepoint and File Explorer that we can use to then filter the view on his device? Any suggestions please and thank you.18KViews9likes22CommentsRefresh button on Windows 11 in File Explorer
I absolutely hate this new right-click menu when I am on File Explorer. I cannot directly click "Refresh" but have to click 'Show more' and then only click "Refresh". WTH was Microsoft thinking when deciding that. I shouldn't be the only one who is getting annoyed with this.42KViews6likes19CommentsWindows preview in File Explorer causes files are locked message
We have an issue with Windows Preview in File Explorer. When an employee opens a pdf file from the network they receive the message: "PDF file is locked by another user. Would you like to open a read-only copy of the file". The issue is not that the file is in use, the issue is that the preview button is buggy. If I tell the employee to disable the preview button the issue goes away. We use Bluebeam REVU 2019, but this issue has been around for at least a couple of years. Excel is sometime affected by the preview button as well. Who at Microsoft is tasked to fix the issue with the Preview button? Our employees love to leave the preview button engaged because they like that they can view a smaller version of the files they are viewing. I am an administrator on my PC (Dell XPS 8940) running Windows 11 22H2 Build 22621.525 Beta insider build. When I try to pin or unpin anything to my File Explorer Quick Access in the Navigation pane I get the following error: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I have checked all the permissions I can think of and mine is set to "Full Control". If I log onto another Admin account everything works fine. I have searched the internet but cannot seem to find anything related (except check your permissions are set correctly). I ran an update from the latest Windows 11 22H2 ISO file and it had no effect. I really do not want to reset my Windows as I have a lot of customization and applications.994Views0likes0CommentsWhat is telclient.dll?
Today I don't know why I want to frantically go through all the Edge folders in File Explorer, Then I find something strange. I go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeCore, Seeing that there are several folders inside, then I open each one to see. Some have a lot of stuff stored in it, and some have only one .dll file. And what I'm going to ask today is this .dll file what exactly is it? It says "telclient.dll", but I can't tell from its name what it really is. I went back to the EdgeCore folder and found this .dll file loaded in a folder of an older version of Edge. Could this is be the data left over after the Edge update? I just only want to know what it is.1.6KViews0likes0CommentsWindows 11 File Explorer controls are potentially unclear to older users
I work with many older clients over the age of 70 and several tell me they do not "read" icons very well, and prefer to look for text on screen to help them remember what the "different buttons do." The optional large ribbon of toolbar buttons in Windows 10 File Explorer made things extremely clear, with large buttons and icons with clear text explaining the common functions of copying, pasting, moving, renaming, sharing or deleting items. I personally like the minimal design of Windows 11, and it is great that the design follows through all apps, so that the icons are the same, but I would really like to see a few more text labels. I attach a suggested improvement for File Explorer:3KViews0likes5Commentssharepoint in file exporer
I have a Teams SharePoint site linked through in File Explorer. I've dropped a file in one of the SharePoint folders in File Explorer. However, it is not visible in Teams Files view (or in SharePoint Online). Conversely, the files that are in that folder are not viewable from File Explorer. This is the case with all the folders on this SharePoint site. Any ideas?893Views0likes1CommentFile Explorer takes 4-5 seconds to open after updating windows to version 20H2.
File Explorer takes 4-5 seconds to open after updating windows to version 20H2. Tried running system file checker. Didn't work. It's really annoying. Update: After trying few solutions from other sources, I have restored my Windows to previous stable version.2.1KViews0likes4Comments
