Windows preview in File Explorer causes files are locked message

We have an issue with Windows Preview in File Explorer.  When an employee opens a pdf file from the network they receive the message: "PDF file is locked by another user. Would you like to open a read-only copy of the file". The issue is not that the file is in use, the issue is that the preview button is buggy.  If I tell the employee to disable the preview button the issue goes away.  We use Bluebeam REVU 2019, but this issue has been around for at least a couple of years.  Excel is sometime affected by the preview button as well.

Who at Microsoft is tasked to fix the issue with the Preview button?  Our employees love to leave the preview button engaged because they like that they can view a smaller version of the files they are viewing.

Thank you,

Is this EVER going to be fixed?
I still have this problem...it was fine until about 6-9 months ago...then some dumb M$ update occurred, and now it is broken.

I doubt it, I'm running Windows 11 Pro and Bluebeam 21.1 and still the issue crops up from time to time with the employees who are running either Windows 10 or 11. I'm not too hopeful that this will be fixed any time soon.

    Hi ddornberg

I'm having the same issue with Bluebeam REVU 2019 as well.  Did you recently update to Windows 10 2004?

    Thank you,
