Re: Sending email as alias in office365?
Let me add another element of the retirement of the connected accounts is auto-populate the reply that populates the from field on an reply. Connected accounts had this feature. As i said MS retired the connected accounts a couple years ago. This forced me to shift my setup to manage my distinct email identities (different domains and funneling into one main account) via use of the DistList permissioned to send as ... but the Dist list approach did support auto-populate from on reply. For example, external sender sends to one of my identity email addresses i have setup in parallel using DistList .. such as name@domain2.com where name@domain1.com is my main account .. so from my inbox i would like to just open the email and click reply and the name@domain2.com would auto populate the from field .. instead with the DistList approach i have to manually set from by picking from dropdown every time .. with the former connected account this feature auto-populated the from field and i found that far more efficient and less subject to accidentally missing that selection which then sends out as the main name@domain1.com .. ie wrong identity. Do you know if that config / feature has been added back?7.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Sending email as alias in office365?
i reported this several years ago. I had MULTIPLE sessions with O365 support on this issue. I had to walk them thru every step and they took screenshots at every step. I explained the fix / workaround i found. I asked them to report this internally as bug. My recollection and impression is this support engineer reproduced the problem on his system. With support online i added entirely new DL and reproduced the problem. It was several years back but another user just posted that the fix i suggested worked for them.7.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Sending email as alias in office365?
I ran into a similar issue several years ago when i converted to using DistList as my conduit to setup other distinct email addresses to send and receive email .. i have multiple domains and want to be able to select specific email address to send as and for that to go as that email rather than my primary account email/domain My recollection after adding this dist list for each separate email address .. Next outlook (windows desktop), make sure the from field exposed, click new email, click From .. at bottom of dropdown .. "other email address" ... my first instinct was to type in the email i setup on the DistList but when i sent this triggered error similar to what you report above, so solution after calls with Support was to just select directly from Global Address list .. once this is done it looks same as if you type it manually but the email goes without error. Once you get each email address setup in this fashion the UI in outlook remembers and you can select from the remembered emails in the dropdown. Again if you manually type in the email address it will also be remembered and fail to send each time. Just click and delete to remove then select directly from global address List per above. Hope that helps.7.3KViews0likes10CommentsRe: Sending email as alias in office365?
Sound similar to my setup .. using DL permission with delegation permission and send as to send FROM and it works for me. I did run into a bit of a problem sending from windows desktop app. The problem occurs appears to be that when manually toggle the FROM to use this DL the "offline GL" was not syncd and did not reflect the DL .. if you manually drill down ie click on the other email address and select directly from from the GAL (live to your account) rather than the offline GAL then can send without issue . I have an active support case to sort out why my offline GAL on my desktop outlook 2016 is not syncing properly or timely to the GAL. There is more going on that just simply setting the default in the address book to point to the GAL rather than the offline GAL. I have done that and it is persistent. The issue is when i click on FROM and it presents cached emails addresses that were previously set / selected as FROM email .. even if selected directly from the GAL .. if select from the cached emails the exactly same email will error out .. so only way to make it go is to select directly from the GAL .. my guess, unconfirmed from the o365 support engineers, is there is some code related to the recently retired connected accounts code .. the connected accounts had an autoreply feature that auto set the from on a reply to an email received into a connected account. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom (not) retired the connected account feature this past September 2018. Possibly did not back off this code and something not working right. I have replicated all steps with O365 support engineers. They then tell me they need to research and then its days before i hear from them and we have trouble connecting. That is where my issue stands. Hope this helpss25KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Connected Accounts, sending a reply or sends as the connected account the email stopped working
The connected account feature is for all practical purposes gone. The configuration that i have used for years and worked for our users very well is now permanently non functional as it depended on connected accounts. The most important feature connected accounts provided was autoreply to set the From field on a reply when that was to a email associated with a connected account. Each of the connected accounts was connected to a single purpose O365 shared mailbox. This has send as / on behalf of permissions. The user can manually set the from field but they routinely forget. Is there any feature / config or other setting that can auto set the from field on an reply?5.5KViews0likes1CommentRe: Connected Accounts, sending a reply or sends as the connected account the email stopped working
FYI .. i just hung up on O365 support session ... they have replicated in their lab ... and Together on remote session .. deleted and re-added both an office 365 shared mailbox account and google account (non google domain hosted by google but uses same settings) .. same result on both .. it adds ..ie accepts credentials and downloads email but will not send due to failed verification email .. we used powershell to view permissions on the connected accounts and attempt to force the send of the verification email .. that failed for reasons that baffled the support engineer. Captured transcipts of all powershell activity and recorded the failed email timestamps He is going to engage developers to see why the powershell failed. My feeling is if can get the powershell to allow the verification email to go out then will be back in business5.7KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Connected Accounts, sending a reply or sends as the connected account the email stopped working
I read the memo. It says the functionality would continue to be supported until Oct 31. I am a customer that has used the connected account functionality for 5+ years. The feature has worked without issue for this entire period. Since last week the send as does not work. I have multiple users down. If the date is Oct 31 then they should not be disabling the the only real function prior to that date. At this point it only receives email. That can be accomplished by just forwarding from each connected account. The material feature is the ability to rely as the connected account and to auto-populate the from field on a reply. What microsoft has done here is turn off a feature without giving the user community an opportunity to adjust.5.7KViews1like1Comment- 16KViews0likes0Comments
Re: Admin Portal Not Working
I have no idea where our tenant is located. Is that something i can see on my admin portal? I have been a customer (small business) of office 365 5+ years. We are located in SE Texas. I have called this into the support but they put me on hold for half an hour to just confirm sort of that there is an issue affecting admin portal. They could not provide any further guidance. Phone support has gone south in big way. This has forced me to post and hope for answers.17KViews0likes2CommentsAdmin Portal Not Working
Is there a problem with access to the admin portal? I am the admin for our company. I login like I have done for years and then click on Admin .. no response just spins and spins. I need to do admin type things such as reset passwords to user accounts, create new users, manage membership on distribution lists. All things I have done many times but just cannot click thru into the Admin area. I am able to login to my account and see the icon for Admin but it just does not respond. I have tried 4 different browsers. Same result.17KViews0likes6CommentsConnected Accounts, sending a reply or sends as the connected account the email stopped working
Issue. Using Connected Accounts, sending a reply or sends as the connected account the email stopped working several days ago. Inbound email to the connected account arrives without issue Below show details from the failed send Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: The TO “Email address “ The email system had a problem processing this message. It won't try to deliver this message again Below under “Diagnostic information for administrators:” Generating server: DM5PR13MB1050.namprd13.prod.outlook.com Remote Server returned '550 5.6.2 STOREDRV.Submit; subscription not enabled for send as' As background I used this feature with several connected accounts for years without issue (and other users under my admin). The key feature is the auto population of the From field when replying or sending. Never had any issue and no changes to our setup. My own troubleshooting I deleted and re-added each of the connected accounts. They add back without issue and download and goto an OK status. But as soon as try to send or reply via then get same error as above. My guess is the O365 developers are making changes that affected then send permissions. And deleting and re-adding does not trigger a full propagation of the send as permission. Is there any way to fix this? I would think the support team if given the correct guidance could fix permissions.
