Hi there. We are testing MS Teams right now with our O365 E3 subscription.  Is there a way to offer up local on-prem storage (whether it's a file server or Sharepoint) and remove OneDrive and Sharepoint Online as the options available?

From what I understand that there is a cloud connector by Layer2solutions that can offer up internal resources to cloud services but don't know a whole heck of a lot about them.  Maybe someone is using their cloud connector and can provide some guidance.

We love teams but we cannot, for corporate reasons, put the data in the files in the cloud.

Appreciate peoples suggestions. Thank you!

To be clear: you cannot replace the files part of teams with OnPremises workloads...and since Teams is based on Groups yo need to have SPO in place

I'm guessing you mean something like a new "tab" that will bring that external (well, "internal" to your organization) content into Teams?

@Sam Singh

Avepoint have a product called CloudIndex which means you can link through to on-prem storage from Teams

As @Juan Carlos González Martín posted, you can't remove the SharePoint Online file experience, things like the AvePoint product can help present on premises files as additional tabs, but won't replace the default files expereince.

I would suggest challenging your corporate policy, there are all sorts of governance controls available for files in the cloud e.g. Lockbox, Customer Key, Sensitivity labels with dual keys that make it highly secure. It's used already by governments, military, nuclear sites, financial services and law companies who were able to fit it within their industries requirements (at least for most documents).
