I want to know if there is a way to join Cisco Room Kit hardware and Polycom RealPresence Debut hardware with Microsoft Teams, this in order to create Meetings that can use this hardware. We believe that Teams is not using SIP protocol, so any ideas about how can we integrate these 2 types of hardware? Any help is appreciated. Regards, Enrique Carbonell

@ECarbonell you need one of the 3 VTC Interop providers (Pexip, Poly or BlueJeans) to join a meeting from one of these devices. Maybe there is Teams Firmware from Poly but not sure, then you can join "native" to Teams Meeting

The Polycom community tells me that the Poly Debut does neither work with Skype for Business or Microsoft Teams. Its openSIP or H.323 only.

How can I do? The RealPresence Desktop software can interface with Skype or Microsoft Teams?

As rightly stated, the Debut is a SIP/H.323 device so does not talk native to Skype for Business or Teams. The same is true for RealPresence Desktop, it is a SIP/H.323 client so you will need Cloud Video Interop (CVI) from one of the three certified partners, BlueJeans, Pexip and Poly.

 

Below on the left is a RPD client and on the right is Teams.  Using CVI to dial number@domain.com

  We have begun testing with BlueJeans and on a first quick demo, we were able to join with a Cisco Room Kit and Polycom Debut without any trouble. I suppose the other 2 providers may work the same, but I encourage you to call them and make a test. 

 

In our case, BlueJeans answered our email in the same business day and 2 days later we were having the demo.

Have any of you used the Polycom RealConnect Service (Cloud) or just Bluejeans? If yes, which version is best to use since there are three variants (Bluejeans Meetings, Rooms and Events)?
Once this third-party software is installed, how do I configure it?
Above all, can the people I need to contact only have Skype or need Skype for business or Microsoft Teams?
Sorry but for me it is the first time that I configure this kind of equipment.

CVI works with Free Teams, you don't need a O365 Subscription for it work, obviously you need a CVI subscription.  SfB Online is not issued any more for seats under a certain size.

 

I've used all 3 CVI services, BlueJeans, Pexip and Polycom.  Each are slightly different.  In terms of setup, all are the same.  Here is an overview of the Polycom RealConnect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFccS3eOOo0 and the Pexip overview is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8mUv_amnwE 

 

So the people you want to make contact with can either use Teams in Edge browser and no interop is needed.  Otherwise they can download the Teams client and use the desktop app, again no interop needed.  If they are on a VTC system, then this is where CVI comes in and required.

You need Microsoft Teams which is part of Office 365. The VTC should be registered somewhere to a SIP registrar or H.323 gatekeeper. It seems like it is complaining of a name issue. How about double-checking you have all elements installed. A good article here by Jeff Schertz http://blog.schertz.name/2018/10/managing-office-365-with-powershell/

And you are able to log into https://portal.office.com with this account? Remember this is the admin account and not the account of the user you want to enable.

When you sign up to Azure for the first time, a tenant domain is created using a DNS name of <tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com; in your case I assume is cantalupilightin.onmicrosoft.com. Microsoft creates some DNS records automatically so you can use services like Teams, Outlook, Intune, etc, depending on the licenses you have.

 

One of those records is lyncdiscover.cantalupilightin.onmicrosoft.com, but by your screenshot, it seems that record does not exists, which is actually weird because as stated above, those records are created by Microsoft as soon as you sign-up for the first time in Azure.

 

Please confirm the tenant name you are using for your Microsoft Azure suscription and try to verify via nslookup command, that the following records do exist:

 

lyncdiscover.<tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com

sip.<tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com

autodiscover.<tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com

enterpriseregistration.<tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com

enterpriseenrollment.<tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com

_sip._tls.<tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com

_sipfederationtls._tcp.<tenantname>.onmicrosoft.com

 

where <tenantname> is your verified tenant name, I'm assuming is cantalupilightin; but please double check.

I see you are using showroom@cantalupilighting.onmicrosoft.com Is that a Global Admin account? Make sure you are logging with the right credentials to run these commands.

I tried the records you suggested and already on the first (lyncdiscover.cantalupilighting.onmicrosoft.com) I had the error as in the attachment (also the second one, sip.cantalupilighting.onmicrosoft.com).
Is this a problem with Microsoft Azure subscription?

Moreover, on the client's PC when I connect to Teams I get the timeout error as in the second window while in my pc everything is ok, how is that possible?

Good evening to all, I started the O365 account configuration procedure by associating it with the company domain (see attachment). I'm running powershell commands as an administrator and the showroom@cantalupilighting.onmicrosoft.com account is the administrator account of O365.
I also tried to connect to all O365 services as attached but I have the same problem.
At this point I don't know if it depends on whether O365 has expired or the client's PC has some restrictions.

Yesterday Bluejeans technical support was connected remotely on the customer's PC and replied as follows: "I reviewed what I could with the Office Tenant that you currently have and it does not appear that your accounts do not have any licenses to services such as Skype for Business, Teams, etc so there is no Skype for Business online server for us to connect to and make configurations.
What you would need to do to be able to proceed is to purchase business licenses for the accounts you want to provision. You would need at least the Business Essentials plan type to be able to configure Teams".

Didn't you say that you could use the free version of Teams?

One related to the Exchange Online Module installation: AADSTS7000112: Application '00000002-0000-0ff1-ce00-000000000000'(Office 365 Exchange Online) is disabled. The other related to Connecting to Microsoft Online Services.

Bluejeans support says that the reason that the free version of MS Teams does not work with our Gateway is the it requires the Tenant to have access to Skype for Business services (cloud server, licenses. etc.), do you agree?

No I don't agree :) If you are licensed for Teams, then CVI should work.  However, if you are working with BlueJeans for CVI, I would suggest you have to go with what they know and their knowledge.  Here is a screenshot of my free teams tenant in O365 Admin center.  I'm just licensed for Teams.  What is your user/tenant licensed for?

So to bring your Polycom Debut into the Teams meeting you need to dial the number@domaim.com or teams@bjn.vc or what the IVR is and enter the 9-11 digit conference ID.

When you schedule a meeting, do you see the parameters like mine below?

@cantalupilighti Good to hear progress is being made.  As for the Debut config, there is some info here on the Polycom site https://documents.polycom.com/bundle/bluejeans-sg-current/page/t1935241.html  You can disable the call register and then just dial the BlueJeans Teams gateway.

You can use RP Desktop or Mobile to make a test video call into your Teams Meeting. CVI provides the ability for external users on SIP/H.323 devices to join your Teams meeting.

There is no need to register the Debut to anything as per my guide above. For the RP Desktop, setup as Individual and use the 30-day trial license.

The Polycom RP Desktop is a software client for H.323 and SIP. It has nothing to do with your Debut. From what I understand, you are looking to test a call into your Microsoft Teams meeting via your BlueJeans CVI gateway. Have I missed something else you are trying to test?
