The conversation space, in the first team we created, is very cluttered, due to responding by creating new threads instead of clicking on "Reply". Furthermore, some of the conversations should rather have taken place in the chat space (individual chat), so as to not 'pollute' the conversation space for the other members. By 'pollute' I mean having dialogues which have no bearing on the others in the team.
There are some rules one has to set, e.g.
The conversation space should be kept neat and relevant to the Team and the particular channel - for future reference.
Having said all that, I went about happily deleting a lot of those first trial messages, only to be left with a string of "This message has been deleted" messages. Is there any way to get rid of these apart from starting a whole new Team or channel?

To respond to your last question, as long as no one has replied to the messages that you delete, they roll off fairly quickly (within a few hours in my testing). However, if there are replies, then the ugly message stays.
In use, these only are visible for a short time since they quickly get pushed out of view so long as the Team has some conversations happening (outside the "deleted" one, of course).

this is unplesent! a windows recycle bin would be good. im just learning and mistakes are hard to hide.

So, is there a way to get rid of "This message has been deleted" that has replies?
We have a user who created a channel and added some test messages where some others replied and then the messages were deleted. Now they see "This message has been deleted" where it has replies and there is no way to "reset" a channel nor a way to delete a channel and then create a new one with the same name.
Must be a way to solve this?

I am having the self same issue but we are rolling out Microsoft Teams for Schools.
As you can imagine, pupils sometimes post things I wish to delete :) and being left with a string of This message has been deleted. (why in italics as well? To draw attention to it?) looks messy and smacks of unprofessionalism.
If anyone could suggest a workaround or, if someone from Microsoft reads this, could implement a fix (liking the "Recycle Bin" idea suggested above) this would be fantastic.
Thanks.

I'll bring this up at the AMA

+1 for this. The deleted messages should go away at some point - if not instantly then after a couple of days or nightly.

There is a request on the UserVoice forum for Microsoft Teams that needs more votes to get visibility. Everyone interested, please follow the link below and vote for this feature addition.

@microsoft-user9
Why is this still not possible??? It's crazy.. I hope Microsoft will change this quickly. It's a pain in the **bleep** when you're working with students..

This is completely crazy. As a trainer working for the NHS in the UK, MS Teams is massive for us and I am developing a lot of learning material. Looks so messy because, in creating this, I get the "This message has been deleted".
As mentioned - a recycle bin would be the best way forward to permanently delete something you have posted.
Had to create the same channel 8 times so far then remove it and re add it to make the recordings relevant.

@Marius Pretorius when will Microsoft Teams update the application to allow users to delete conversations like we can in Skype?

Quitting Teams worked perfectly
