It would be very useful if I could import messages into a users mailbox. Currently you can only create messages which puts them into a Draft state, even if this is done from MIME content which includes sent date and time and to/from recipients.
We have a requirement where we need to attach automatically created sent messages to business objects in a custom application, and those messages need to be visible to many users, not just the user who the message was created for. Due to access limitations of accessing messages in other users mailboxes we store a MIME version of the message with our business objects. Ideally we would like to display these in Outlook Online but we can't do this as the message looses it's sent and recipient data when created. Currently we download the MIME message as an EML file and open it in Outlook Desktop.
Ideally we would like to import the message intact into a hidden folder in the users mailbox and display it via Outlook online.
I can also see advantages to importing messages with migration processes or copying messages to shared mailboxes.
