and I don't mean "a" windows update! I want to completely remove the malware integrated into Windows 11 that downloads stuff without my consent and despite my explicit prohibition in all the possible settings. Simply removing wuapihost files makes Windows refuse to boot.20Views0likes1CommentWhat’s New in the MTC? September 2023 – Community Ranks
Our Mission at the MTC is to provide a community Microsoft users can get the latest news, ask questions, learn new skills, and connect with peers and Microsoft experts from around the world. This month, we are rolling out a new ranking system designed to recognize users’ contributions to the community and add a little more ‘Microsoft’ to the MTC. What are the Community Ranks? We now have two ranking ladders to recognize both types of our tech community members. We have our Contributors Ranks for those who come to the MTC to interact and ask/answer questions in our forums, blogs, and events. Some of you Microsoft gamers may notice the subtle nod 😉 Contributor Ranks Onyx Contributor Titanium Contributor Diamond Contributor Platinum Contributor Gold Contributor Silver Contributor Bronze Contributor Steel Contributor Iron Contributor Brass Contributor Copper Contributor And for our members who come to the MTC to catch up on news and learn something new from the blogs, we have our Reader Ranks! These are replacing our Visitor/Member ranks, and once you start posting in the MTC, you will move into the Contributor Ranks. Reader Ranks Senior Reader Prolific Reader Regular Reader Frequent Reader Casual Reader Occasional Reader New Reader (Please note that these rankings are intended for fun and are not a measure of MTC’ers technical competence.) What goes into the Community Ranks? When you become a member of the MTC, you start climbing the ranking ladder, starting as a New Reader. As you contribute more and more to the community, you will start to climb the rank ladder. Here are some of the key ingredients that go into our ranking recipe (*These points are awarded each time an activity is completed): Viewing messages (0.25 points) Commenting on blogs, ideas, and TKB articles (1 point) Creating new discussion topics (1 point) Replying to forum discussions (2 points) Giving (2 points) and receiving Kudos (4 points) Contributing Ideas (5 points) Authoring blog articles (10 points) Publishing Knowledge Base articles (10 points) Getting your replies marked as a solution (15 points) Simply put, the more you engage and interact with the MTC, the more points you earn and the higher your community ranking will be! If you have any questions on these new rankings or you’d like to share feedback with the Tech Community Team, let us know in the comments below.13KViews37likes58CommentsROBOCOPY and UGREEN NAS DH2300
I was editing data when I noticed that my Network Attached Storage (NAS) hard drives were thrashing. Technically, that is what is supposed to happen when configured to update 'real time'. I have been a long-time user of a batch file to execute ROBOCOPY. It is clean and efficient, one of the better items Microsoft has created. Go figure, right? Anyway, being who I am and what I have done in my career, I got the idea to edit in Windows on two separate NVME hard drives (much data and large files) then execute a batch file to run ROBOCOPY. This consolidated all data onto one spin-drive in my Windows PC. The first time I did this, my DH2300 NAS was active. All configured SYNC and BACKUP tasks indicated 'BAD' and would not execute. I had to delete the NAS tasks and recreate them. After several attempts and recreations, I thought that I might shutdown the UGREEN NAS DH2300, run the Windows PC batch file for ROBOCOPY, then start the UGREEN NAS back up in order for the UGREEN NAS Client Sync & Backup app to 'do its thing'. WRONG! All tasks indicated 'BAD' again. I've made it a practice to delete the NAS Tasks after running Windows ROBOCOPY then recreating all seven NAS tasks. Only then will these properly execute. Would anyone have any idea as to what is going on to cause this? I've asked on UGREEN's FB resource page, and they are suggesting that it is a ROBOCOPY issue (Pass-the-buck = EASY). I suppose that's possible, BUT I've used ROBOCOPY for YEARS. It skips over any unchanged file and only changes/updates files when changed. Still, I must ask.7Views0likes0CommentsLaptop ignoring Windows 11 security updates
My laptop (with an Intel processor) has not recognised Windows 11 Security Updates 2026-04 and 2026-05. Each time I have got an installation failed message; when I re-try, I get the Windows up-to-date message. My Windows update history currently shows 2026-03 as the latest security update, and the latest is Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - v5.141 (KB890830) installed this week on 13 May 26. In contrast, my wife’s Samsung laptop (with a Snapdragon ARM 64 processor) is fully up-to-date with Security Update 2026-05 installed this week. Should I be worried about the recent lack of Windows Security Updates?103Views0likes2Commentshelp.microsoft.com talk to a person - now microsoft get live help

Hey everyone. Quick question regarding Microsoft approvals. We’ve already secured approval for our test and production environments, but we recently changed out a new, slightly refreshed UX for the feature (this is still in out testing as we can't release without Microsoft's approval). Does anyone know if we need to re-submit for approval for a minor UX change? And if we do, can we just drop an email to the CSPP team, or do we need to fill out the official form as a brand-new request? Thanks in advance!15Views0likes0CommentsOffice 365 Tenant-to-Tenant Migration Best Practices
Hello Everyone, I’m currently working on an Office 365 tenant-to-tenant migration project and would like to get recommendations and insights from the community based on real-world experience. The goal is to ensure a smooth migration with minimal downtime and user impact. I’m currently reviewing areas such as tenant preparation, DNS and mail flow planning, identity management, licensing, MFA, and Conditional Access policies. I would also like to understand: Important prerequisites before starting the migration Best practices for source and target tenant preparation Common issues faced during migration Steps to validate the environment after migration Recommendations to reduce migration risks and downtime If anyone has handled similar migrations, please share your suggestions, lessons learned, or things that should be avoided during planning and execution.142Views4likes2CommentsLooking for a way to make adult content extremely difficult to access on my Windows 11 laptop
Hello everyone, I know this is an unusual question, but I sincerely hope someone here can help me. I am an 18-year-old student who has been struggling with an addiction to adult content for the past four years. I have been trying very hard to overcome it, and at one point I was able to stay away from it for almost a year. Unfortunately, since last October, I have relapsed and have been trying everything I can think of to prevent myself from accessing this content again. So far, I have tried: Changing my IPv4 and IPv6 DNS settings to family-safe filtering services. Editing the hosts file to block websites. Using various website blockers and parental control tools. Trying different software restrictions and browser-based solutions. The problem is that I am the one who configured all of these. When I experience a strong urge, I already know exactly how to disable or bypass every restriction because I set it up myself. Unfortunately, I cannot ask my parents or anyone close to me for help. Discussions about topics like this are extremely difficult in my family, and I don't feel comfortable involving them. Because of that, I'm trying to find a technical solution that I cannot easily undo on my own. I'm not asking how to bypass restrictions—I want the exact opposite. I am looking for the strongest possible Windows-based solution that makes it as difficult as possible for me to access adult content, even if I know a lot about computers. Are there any Windows features, account configurations, Group Policy settings, security options, or other methods that could make these restrictions significantly harder to remove? Even if they are not completely impossible to bypass, I would like something that requires so much effort that it gives me time to stop and reconsider. Any advice or suggestions would mean a great deal to me. This has become a serious personal struggle, and I am doing everything I can to overcome it because I genuinely believe my future depends on breaking this habit. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post.27Views0likes0CommentsCan Copilot Studio agent connected via WhatApp channel escalate to representative?
We have built a Copilot Studio agent that uses adaptive cards and connected it through a WhatApp channel. We want this agent to be able to escalate a customer to a representative should they need assistance while communicating with the bot, however, with the current channel set up we use it is not possible. We had managed to connect the agent via Dynamics and WhatsApp simultaneously, but we then had double messages coming through on the WhatsApp chat, now we are only connected through the WhatApp channel. Is there a way for us to also connect through Dynamics in order for customers to be able to escalate to a customer representative? Or is there a way for us to allow for escalations via the WhatsApp connection?17Views0likes0CommentsMetrics in Training Service Partner dashboard still shows not started
our TSP was on-boarded some months before, and it has now been more than some months since we started delivering training courses. We received the welcome email, completed all required formalities, and have delivered some trainings, and learners redeemed the achievement codes, and completed the surveys in MTM. All of these sessions appear correctly in, MTM surveys, and related dashboards. However, in Partner Center it still shows “Not Started.” Could you guys please review this and help us understand why the status has not updated? Thank you,23Views0likes0CommentsHow Are You Handling Office 365 Migrations? Sharing My Experience
Dear Folks, Recently completed an Office 365 migration for a mid-sized org and wanted to share some observations and get a discussion going. Scope covered: User mailboxes Shared mailboxes Archive mailboxes Public folders Overall it went reasonably well, but we hit a few friction points — particularly around public folder cutover timing and ensuring archive mailbox permissions carried over cleanly. Mailbox structure and data consistency held up after the move, but it required careful pre-migration validation. Would love to hear how others approach this: Do you prefer staged or cutover migrations, and what drives that decision for you? Any strategies for handling large mailboxes (50GB+) without running into throttling? How do you manage the coexistence window and MX record cutover to minimize user disruption? Happy to share more specifics if useful.77Views0likes1CommentProfile not accessible when not logged in

How can you permanently block 'onmicrosoft.com' emails for Outlook classic on Windows 11 (personal - MS365)? I am tired of and disgusted at the amount of phishing/spam/malware emails that come in via onmicrosoft.com on behalf of some other entity. All of the emails are of this category. And supposedly they are from Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, United Health, Sam's Club, cloud storage, protection (Norton), etc. I have accounts at these big box stores and regularly receive marketing emails directly from these companies - AND - these stores actually know my account name and use it in the email. Whereas the emails from onmicrosoft.com do not. These us no name (and some no email address) to tell me my account is in trouble of expiring, out of space, payment past due, or infected - total BS. I understand that new domains get created daily and that much of these are difficult to prove validity initially. However, since Microsoft is in a tough situation to know validity or not, give us a way to block, turn off, make a rule, to block emails from onmicrosoft.com so that my Junk mail is not saturated with these bogus emails. Rules will not work. You cannot create one that blocks and/or automatically deletes emails from onmicrosoft.com. Report does not work either as the ones reported on keep showing up day after day. If Microsoft's position is that it produces superior products, then it should provide a way for the user to turn off features not needed or desired. 'onmicrosoft.com' is one of the worst product enhancements to come along. Hoping for a solution.31Views0likes0Comments
