OneNote creates a new notebook when I add a new channel.....

Hello all, 

I used to add a channel to a team site and then add OneNote to it as well. It used to just automatically add a section to the overarching teams notebook. When I do this now it either creates a completly new notebook or in case I choose the exisiting team notebook it just display the entire notebook and I can add a section there, but that nice and user friendly autmatic link is gone. 

I also can reduce the view into the notebook anymore so the channel sees just their section. That really helps to not get confused on a big team with many channels and hence many sections in the overarching Notebook... Any ideas ?

Unfortunately they drastically updated the OneNote tab app and that’s just the way it works now. They should of left default option work the old way and added new options to chose but they didn’t and now a lot of people are upset! Only thing you can do is communicate with users and leave some user voice feedback at this point since it’s working as intended.

I would like to see an option to use a section in each channel, as I read it used to do. Optionally, let me find the newly created team notebook, and select a section for my new channel tab. 

@Joe Guest Sr you can still do this, you just pick existing notebook, then under it is default section for that tab in that channel. 

I swear that wasn't an option when I created new channels. Maybe I was too fast and the new notebook just hadn't made it to the "recently opened" select list.
