We have a recurring meeting were only two people are able to grant access to attendees who are "waiting in the lobby" to join the meeting.   Is there a way to allow more people to grant that access?   The two people who currently can allow this are on our primary domain, the others are guests.   Can I allow a guest to grant access to the meeting?  Does that make sense?

Hi @Tom Robey

You could set the meeting policy to automatically admit users. This can be done in the Teams and Skype control panel.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/meeting-policies-in-teams

AFAIK guests cannot admit others into the meeting. I believe someone from your organisation has to be there to admit users. @adam Deltinger correct me if I am wrong here?

Hope I have answered your question.

Best, Chris

Guests can allow people in, as long as the meeting is started. It's actually annoying to have the popups appear on screen all of the time, but until Microsoft gives us proper per-meeting controls, we are stuck with this...

So having a policy where the "Automatically admit users" is set to "Everyone" still won't work?   Someone will still need to admit them into the meeting?  Will this at least allow anyone in the meeting to admit them into the meeting?   TeamsPolicy.jpg

Hi Tom,

As far as Microsoft states

Automatically admit users; If you turn this off, then meeting participants will be left in the lobby until someone starts the meeting. If it's on, meeting participants will be allowed to automatically join the meeting.

I'll be honest, I don't know why this isn't working based on that description but I'll raise at the next AMA on the 14th February. Until then, it would be a workaround as Vasil said -, one member of the org joins and then lets in one guest and that guest can allow the others - or continue as is. In our organisation we always have two people in there and the other person adds guest who come into the lobby so I wasn't aware that this workaround was possible. However, the thing about guests allowing other guests in is that they may not actively do this if they are there to consume the content and some may get left in the lobby. From my own experience in other Tenants, like Microsoft, if I had the option as I guest I probably wouldn't start allowing others in on Microsoft's behalf.

Best, Chris

That's exactly my experience with it @Christopher Hoard - in a meeting hosted by Microsoft I as a guest user do get the "admin user XXX" popups and I can actually act on those. Now, I don't know what the policy is set to in the Microsoft tenant obviously, but I imagine it should work fine if you have it set to "Everyone", and you should not have to admin guests in that scenario. Shouldn't be too hard to test anyway.
