Document Library - Ignore File Extensions

Hello Everyone,

Is there any way to make the SP document library ignore the file extensions and consider xls, xlsx, xlsm files as same file?

For example - I have manageresources.xls uploaded to document library and next time i downloaded & modified the file and saved as xlsx, manageresources.xlsx. This file with extension xlsx will be treated as new file in document library.

Next time i again download & upload the file with extension as xlsm, manageresources.xlsm. This file with extension xlsm will be treated as new file in document library.

Now, i see three different files with same name and different extension. Can i make any settings such that all three files are considered as one file and from version history i can check back the files of xlsx and xls etc..

Expectation from document library - Single file

manageresources.xls - Version 1.0

manageresources.xlsx - Version 2.0 

manageresources.xlsm - Version 3.0
