I need some simple layman explanation
Hi, I am involved with an implementation of an epm system that is integrated into sharepoint M365 and I started reading on its manual on the setting it up for the first time. I know the steps but I wish to get some simple understanding of why the steps are needed since I am not a very technical person. The tool involves the deployment of an addin in Microsoft word (both web and desktop app). The manual said the addin app can be installed by the user directly from app store or being deployed by the M365 administrator to group of users...but in the section for M365 administrator to deploy this addin app, it said that permission needs to be granted to the app. The permissions are: openid profile sites.selected user.read So why is it ok to let user install directly (without any instruction to set permissions) but when M365 administrator do it, it suddenly needs the given permission? In addition, the manual said to run a powershell script in order to grant permission to the sharepoint site created for the epm system integration. it wrote that sharepoint admin must have Microsoft graph powershell SDK installed and run the script being signed in as site owner. What is this powershell script that it needs special installation to run? Then something mention that when deploying the addin to a group of users, there is a step to run a manifest script. This step might need to be re-execute if there is changes in the addin development. What is this Manifest meant for in Sharepoint? What does it do? Thank you in advance.
SharePoint List Rule to send email not allowing shared mailbox email address
Hi I have tried to search for an answer to this to no avail. We have a SharePoint list and want to create a rule that sends an email when a new list item is created. Sounds simple but I can't seem to add a SharedMailbox email address only UserMailbox email addresses. We do have a work around where we have created a rule in outlook instead that when the email arrives to the UserMailbox forward it to the correct SharedMailbox but it seems a bit silly that I can't directly add a SharedMailbox to the SharePoint list directly from the below. See below the screenshot of where I am trying to insert the SharedMailbox email address. It doesn't find it and if I add it in manually the create rule button doesn't activate. Am I missing something? Thank you!
Horrible sharing URLs in Sharepoint
What is the story with Sharing URLs - they are horrible! In classic SharePoint you could click/drag over a document and you had a user-friendly URL that linked to the document and could be pasted directly into documents, emails etc. Permissions were set once based on the organisation's policy. The link was completely separate to access. Now it creates a horrible unprofessional looking GUID filled thing! In addition, you now have to specify the type of sharing/access you are providing - in most cases existing access is fine! - which can then result in completely unnecessary permissions entries that now have to be managed/audited. Not only was it fine the way it was, it was better! Any chance of sorting this out?
Classic SharePoint features appearing on a Modern Site
I have a modern SharePoint site, with a modern list that has never been associated with classic SharePoint features. But today, two users have experienced intermittent instances of the list appearing in the classic interface. They have not accessed this site before now so I do not believe there should be a cache issue. Does anyone know why this is happening and how it's possible when this site has no association with Classic features? They are using the same browser, same permissions across the site but sometimes the list opens in Classic mode, sometimes it opens in Modern. It also is happening in incognito mode. They are unable to use the site while in Classic Interface at all - the people pickers deny them access ("Error: Sorry, you do not have permission to query for users" and they cannot edit anything because of this error.File Type Version Limits

I have a handful of file types which do not need 100 versions, let alone a version every 2-5 minutes, requiring frequent culling... SharePoint: site Quota threshold exceeded, but no notifications received
I am looking at setting site quotas across our tenancy, to control storage growth by prompting users to think about what they're uploading, and whether old files can be deleted. I set a low quota (1GB) on a test site, with "Allow notifications" checked, and a threshold set. I then stared copying files to the site. The site is currently shown to be at 87% of its quota in SP Admin centre, and above 98% according to the storage metrics, with the threshold set at 80%. If I go to Site Settings, I see a very narrow banner informing me that the site is out of storage space. This is not displayed anywhere else, though, I (as site owner and primary site admin) haven't received any email notifications, nothing is shown outside the settings pages - I can upload another file with no warning. It is now over 72 hours since I started the testing. If site owners need to go to a settings page to see a warning, it is unlikely to achieve the desired effect and will be disruptive to users when sites do unexpectedly run out of space. Hello! Is it possible to create a view, or JSON format a view, when a field contains my information that is not a people picker field? I have a multiple line of text field where I enter a JSON object with user emails. Is there a way to change the view to only show the line item if that text field contains my email? I have tried using that field with Contains [Me] but that does not work. Presumably as [Me] is for people picker fields. Is there a way to add a filter to the view to look for my email?
Organization Asset Libraries not filtering in PowerPoint Brand Images
Hi, I have set up three Organization Asset Libraries on the same SharePoint site using the `Set-SPOOrgAssetsLibrary` PowerShell cmdlet. All three are image libraries, each intended for a different language version of our company assets. When I go to PowerPoint → Insert → Pictures → Brand Images, I can see a dropdown that allows me to switch between the libraries. However, regardless of which library I select, all images from all three libraries are displayed at the same time. My questions: 1. Is this expected behavior (by design), or is it a bug? 2. If by design — what is the actual purpose of the library switcher dropdown if it doesn't filter the content? Any insight or official documentation reference would be greatly appreciated. Hello! Is it possible to add a Power Automate button from the list view in a SharePoint list to the Form view? I was hoping that when a line item is open to view, we may be able to add this button onto the Form view as well somehow? Even just as a hyperlink and not a button? Just something clickable.
