Confused about public CDN and if its required to host custom fonts

We would like to add custom fonts for our Intranet using SharePoint online. I see that to use the brand center you must enable a public CDN. We are concerned that our assets could be accessed anonymously when using the public CDN. Is there any way to enable the brand center with only assets stored in SharePoint online and not enable the CDN. Our offices are all based in the same region so CDN is not required.

  • The security concern surrounding the forced activation of a Public CDN to leverage native SharePoint Brand Center font packaging is a major roadblock for compliance-locked enterprise networks. Infosec teams are rightfully blocking layouts that route custom typography through anonymous external tracking loops.

A stable alternative is to implement a client-side architecture that overrides native branding constraints through 100% in-tenant isolation. By compiling your custom assets locally as an native SPFx solution directly within your secure Tenant App Catalog, you can synchronize elite corporate layouts and custom corporate typography without making single data extraction calls, webhooks, or activating public CDNs. All assets stay strictly behind your company’s firewall boundaries while completely wiping out native layout errors and background performance lag.

If your systems team is attempting to resolve the Brand Center CDN dilemma, you can audit a completely isolated, zero-external-call framework on the M365 UI Overwrite & Font Sync Guide Hub:
