Outlook - cannot add Google G Suite account - javascript disabled?
I am trying to add Google G Suite account to Outlook. When I enter the G Suite account email it shows the Google login screen.
Then I get a question by Google to choose "Organizational G Suite account" or "Individual Google Account".
I select "Organizational G Suite account" and then I get "Couldn’t sign you in" screen with this message:
"The browser you’re using doesn’t support JavaScript, or has JavaScript turned off.
To keep your Google Account secure, try signing in on a browser that has JavaScript turned on. Learn more
If you continue to have problems signing in, please contact your administrator."
If I click on "Learn more" I get an Internet Explorer 11 browser opened with the page. This makes me think that Outlook is opening the sign-in screen in IE 11 browser control and somehow Javascript is disabled.
I am using Outlook v. 2203 (16.0.15028.20178) on Windows 11.
Any ideas on how to fix this.
It was working for me for more than a year. I don't have problem with other G Suite accounts where I am not asked to choose between "Organizational" and "Individual" account, but this account is important to me as it is my company account.
The same happens on a brand new laptop I installed with fresh Windows 11 / Outlook v. 2203 (16.0.15028.20178).
I would really appreciate any help.

I had this problem with a client's account.
I found this fix which worked for me:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/374439/cannot-add-gmail-to-outlook-this-browser-or-app-ma.html
3 x registry setting changes. I made a batch file to fix it for others.

- skiingscotBrass ContributorLooks like a different issue from the account / JavaScript error.
- mayojsBrass Contributor
Not at all!
The JavaScript error is because Outlook uses some sort of embedded browser variant which the user has not control over *
- yes/no to JavaScript
The reg tweaks force a version of browser where JavaScript will work.
Read the thread link that’s I posted. It worked for me after 2days of trying and testing fixes.
I was so glad to get it resolved I thought I’d share, to save others the time.

- Louis_MSCopper ContributorHey Folks, here is how I have been resolving the issue
I suggest to use Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft® Outlook ( Easily found with google search of GSSMO) - *Note, this will only work for G-Suite emails, not a @gmail.com address*
Using Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft® Outlook (AKA GWSMO) it will create a new outlook profile, however, you will finally be able to have your outlook calendar sync 2 ways to your calendar at google, and sync contacts!
Best,

Louis_MS i confirm this solution works. I have been struggling with is since over 2 months now.

There are many things I don't like about the GSSMO solution (new outlook profile, annoying additional synch add-in/software that runs in the background, cannot rename the email account, so it is a long thing like "Google Workspace - email address" etc.), but would have to use it temporarily until the Outlook team fixes the real issue with the IE browser control embedded into the authentication screens and to be honest I guess it is a simple change in the security zone settings to allow some google Urls to run Javascript.
It is a shame that Outlook on my Mac laptop works properly, while Outlook on my Windows 11 workstation does not work.
- groovsterCopper Contributorlook into 'removing conflicting google accounts'. fixed it for me

NikolayI I spoke with a Microsoft customer service representative this morning, and he fixed the problem by downloading the Google Worspace Sync, using that app you can grant permission to your Outlook client to synchronize with you Gsuite account. So use the Google Workspace migration for Outlook, and you will be able to set up your google mail in Outlook. Regards,
- aangeles2470Copper ContributorThe Google Workspace Migration tool was the solution that helped me! Thanks for posting!

hwong78 This worked for me, thank you.

Thanks for fixing my outlook issue with the outlook registry edit. Worked perfectly. Cracks me up that Microsoft tells everyone to migrate away from IE but then still uses it in outlook.
Again Thanks - @mayojs !

4. Checked Gmail Settings and Have IMAP settings coorect
5. Checked Chrome Settings "Java Enabled"
6. Chrome Settings again "add all *google.com"
7. Removed account in Outlook 2019
8. Re-install account within Outlook 2019 only to get the error again pictured in this thread.
Seems we are all having this issue. Any fix would be great. I have been on this what should be a simple issue for over 2hrs now.

- DevarroCopper ContributorThe fix has already been posted. Please review my earlier posts.

So i now have this fixed also. this relates to the solution jamatruda posted previously. I had attempted to use both individual and org account options to login and got the same error
Using a private browsing window i logged in with my personal domain account email address but as an individual account and got the error message Devarro posted. The Devarro post is where i started to get what was going on. Following the instructions on that page i renamed the individual account from 'name@domain' to 'name-google@domain' this meant that i had access to the legacy individual account settings / history etc so can check to see what is there and merge over to my organisation google account in the future if there is anything i need (i doubt this). I had to verify the email address etc as expected but now have my 'name@domain' org account and name-google@domain individual account which both work.
After this i attempted to add my Email address removed email address to outlook and instead of popping up with org / individual dialogue it just asks for my password. And bing bang bosh i have the email address back added in to Outlook and all working.
Hopefully this explanation helps others get this resolved. Cheers all for your contributions in helping me to get my head round what was going on. Doesnt explain why the javascript error was popping up or how thats fixed but it does resolve the fundamental fault for me and hopefully others.- NikolayIBrass ContributorThis doesn't solve the problem for me, as I cannot login to this old "individual" account, so I have to continue choosing between the two accounts. The problem is clearly related to Outlook on Windows (IE 11 in this case), so it should be solvable on the Outlook side. Why it was working so far and now it stops working.

Sim. Estou com o mesmo problema e não encontrei nenhuma solução.
Alguém já descobriu o que fazer?
- MayureshvazeCopper ContributorHaving the same problem. I upgraded from office 2010 to 365 and this issue has occurred
- jamatrudaCopper Contributorok, i have a resolution. I was able to chat with a google support rep. Evidently microsft changed something on their end where by if you try to add a gmail organizational account that is also linked to an individual account it comes back with that java error. The fix is to login to the individual google account and you should be presented with a screen saying there is an account conflict, do you want to setup a new account and migrate the data to the new account. Once you do this then it works. In my case, I signed up for google adwords several years ago and this was never linked to my organizational email.
- jkwadvCopper ContributorI have tried both ways multiple times and it's still not working for me. Can you provide a link for the Google support that you used?
- DevarroCopper Contributor
Can confirm this resolved our issue. Signing in using the individual account produced the message shown in the image. Outlook 2019 (non-365) was able to connect after that. Will provide more information if 2FA causes the issue to recur.
- NikolayIBrass ContributorJust to clarify - with this G Suite account I have both "organizational" and "individual" Google accounts, so this is why I am asked first what kind of account I want to login.
I have another G Suite account (my other company account) where I don't have an "individual" account, only "organizational" - in this case I am not asked to choose account type and I am able to authenticate with google and add the IMAP account to Outlook.
The problem seems to be happening only when I have to choose between "organizational" and "individual" account.
It is clearly an IE 11 browser control embedded in the desktop Outlook as clicking on "Learn more" opens new IE 11 window even though this is Window 11 and I cannot find IE11 in the search. I also checked the internet options of IE 11 and the Javascript is not disabled. I am also able to login in IE11 with this G Suite account by first selecting "Organizational" account and then going to the login screen. I suppose this is somehow related to restrictions of the IE 11 browser control embedded into Outlook desktop.- skiingscotBrass Contributori have just tested this using Outlook 365 on my macbook and working fine. It pops out to the default browser and asks me to authenticate and authorise outlook access to my account as it always has. Issue appears to be linked to gsuite on windows / outlook config. will have a dig in the gsuite forums and see what i can find and will report back if i get any success.
