Just to clarify - with this G Suite account I have both "organizational" and "individual" Google accounts, so this is why I am asked first what kind of account I want to login.
I have another G Suite account (my other company account) where I don't have an "individual" account, only "organizational" - in this case I am not asked to choose account type and I am able to authenticate with google and add the IMAP account to Outlook.
The problem seems to be happening only when I have to choose between "organizational" and "individual" account.
It is clearly an IE 11 browser control embedded in the desktop Outlook as clicking on "Learn more" opens new IE 11 window even though this is Window 11 and I cannot find IE11 in the search. I also checked the internet options of IE 11 and the Javascript is not disabled. I am also able to login in IE11 with this G Suite account by first selecting "Organizational" account and then going to the login screen. I suppose this is somehow related to restrictions of the IE 11 browser control embedded into Outlook desktop.

i have just tested this using Outlook 365 on my macbook and working fine. It pops out to the default browser and asks me to authenticate and authorise outlook access to my account as it always has. Issue appears to be linked to gsuite on windows / outlook config. will have a dig in the gsuite forums and see what i can find and will report back if i get any success.
