Shared links not downloading for others, just gives error text files
All of the sudden, any shared links from OneDrive are not allowing people to download the files. It just gives them a .zip of "OneDrive-2024-02-15.zip" that contains 2 text files. The 2 files are "Download Errors.txt" & "OneDrive_1.txt" and just say there was a problem downloading the file.
I have moved files to different folders, renamed them. Nothing works. This is the first time in 5 years this has happened, I have always used the Share links with no issues. The only way it works is if I zip the files ahead of time and share the link to the zipped file.

kevinrmoon A very quick work around.....
Right click on your folder which u want to download -> select 'Add Shortcut to OneDrive'.
Go to your onedrive -> right click on the shortcut u just created -> select 'Download'.
It worked 😎...........

Hope this helps:
I have found that creating a test folder then copying the folder you are attempting to download into the new test folder and downloading the test folder allows all contents to download successfully. - DavidReedImagesCopper ContributorSame. My solution is to use Dropbox and never, ever rely on Microsoft again.

I found I can zip the files before loading to OneDrive and it works. The reason I use onedrive is I get 1TB of storage and with dropbox I only get 2GB free and then plans start at $10/mth and up from there. So I get 1TB with my Microsoft 365 subscription anyways.

Matt_Clay My clients expect to be able to look at images first and maybe just download one or two as needed. Most download the whole thing, yes. But with a zip uploaded they can't preview. Dropbox is just part of the cost of doing business, I guess, since I can't rely on Microsoft's product working -- this has been going on for weeks and getting worse.
- aikikenCopper ContributorHaving the same problem recently. But, the app shows that everything is fine. There seems to be no way to self-troubleshoot. Hello....Microsoft....are you listening?
- VTphotoCopper ContributorSame issue as all of you. I will have to take my business to another cloud service if Deleted doesn’t fix this like today. It’s going on over a week now. Unacceptable for a business this size.

I am also having this same problem. On my end everything seems to work fine but for the person I am sending a link to, they keep getting errors. The will even send me a link to the error and when I click on their link it just starts downloading the file I sent them. I even tried the zip file mentioned before and they told me they were still getting the error.
- Alfred_UCopper ContributorI have the same issue.

kevinrmoon After using OneDrive successfully for about 9 months to deliver photos to my clients, just this week my clients have also begun to report this problem. Very frustrating.

kevinrmoon Yes, this exact thing just started happening to me aswell (@ 17 Feb). I've been sending files to my clients this way for years without a hiccup, but now, they're getting that error that you described.

I have been going back and forth with support, they are less than helpful. I have sent videos, confirmed it's not my network, I'm not on a VPN. The support has been maddening, I can' get them to understand that this is happening to multiple people.

happens to me too, surprised to hear this issue arising since feb and its already june now and microsoft have yet to fix this bug.
hope they can resolve this real quick to allow our hasslefree usage. To create zip file is not the best way and its taking alot of time.
- pheriluxCopper ContributorI am having the same problem. I can batch download the files while I'm signed in but I get the zip file with the text errors when downloading from an Incognito window (as in not signed in).
This is causing my clients to download a lot of files one by one.
