Shared links not downloading for others, just gives error text files

Can't believe it's been more than a year later, but I faced the same issue this morning.

I was using my new work account to accept a file from a client through their sharepoint. (I use google workspace since the OneDrive issues were too much for me in 2020).

Was able to resolve it by signing into onedrive.live.com with the account the folder had been shared with, which gave me the 5gb free storage and created some folders, "documents" etc. in "my files"

From then on, I was able to download the shared content
