OneDrive windows app stuck on "signing in" but works in Firefox

I have a windows 11 Dell G15 laptop, which has oneDrive app installed on it. It also has Google Chrome and Firefox Web browsers. I also have oneDrive android app on my Samsung S23. In the last few days, I noticed an issue with the oneDrive access on both devices when connected to my home Wi-Fi router. While I am connected to the home Wi-Fi network, both devices can connect to the internet and allow access to outlook emails, YouTube, etc. However, the oneDrive app does not work. It gets stuck at the "signing in". It also does not let me open the oneDrive website on Google chrome. Weirdly, I can open oneDrive on Firefox which is running on the same laptop where oneDrive windows app and google chrome are. The android oneDrive app also does not work and says "Make sure you are connected to the internet". I am 100% sure that both the devices are connected to the internet at the home Wi-Fi and it is only the oneDrive not working on phone and laptop.

I do not understand how it works on firefox and not on google chrome and windows app. Yes, I have already cleared cache and completely reinstalled google chrome. I directly connected my laptop to the ethernet port, and everything started working again. However, the phone oneDrive did not work. I am not sure what is the problem and how I can fix it. I also factory-restored the TP-Link wifi router that I was using but have still not made any progress. Strangely, the same device and setup had been working fine till last week!

  • I found a solution! The problem was with DNS server address. The router was not able to automatically obtain the DNS server. I had to set both the DNS servers manually. I set the preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and the alternate DNS server to 8.8.4.4 on the laptop's Ipv4 properties.
In order to make it work on the devices, I logged into the Wi-Fi's configuration portal and set the DNS server addresses. Now everything works fine!

If setting the DNS in wi-fi configuration is difficult, then one can also manually set the computer's DNS server addresses of Ipv4 properties to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, as shown in the following figure.

I was having the exact same issue as you from home accessing my work OneDrive. OneDrive and SharePoint were accessible through Firefox but not through Edge or the OneDrive desktop app. My IT department were blaming my ISP. Changing the DNS fixed it. Thank you!

Still don't understand why it worked in Firefox though.

Yeah, I also wonder why it worked for Firefox. It might be that they are routing the DNS request through their route. In my case, the wifi router could not automatically identify the DNS.

Check for plugins or other services like zantiVirus that may be competing for files.

Test Chrome in incognito mode with no browser plugins enabled

I tried in incognito after disabling all extensions or plugins. It did not work.

I wonder why its also not working on the Android app simultaneously.
