New Teams - Backgrounds Folder
Recently, Microsoft released the new version of Teams for businesses, allowing the option to move end users to the new version or keep them on classic mode.
However, one thing we've noticed is that the "Backgrounds" folder is no longer present in %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams.
Does anyone know where this folder went?
This folder is used by the older version of Teams, and the folder you mentioned is the same one I talked about - %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams.
The new Teams version has moved this folder, and while searching on my device, I found the images at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams\Backgrounds\Uploads."
Tks!

Basically Old Location(the folder path only generates if the software is installed on the pc, so you may need to separately install alongside the new teams):
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads
New Location:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams\Backgrounds\Uploads
However since the teams web app version doesn't allow custom backgrounds is their a possible work around where we can add a custom picture or video to where the default background images are stored for the teams web app version?
If there is a location where would the web app images be stored?- markusbirrer1965Copper Contributor

Hi there,
We are currently using Microsoft Teams Version 1.7.00.10152 (64-bit). Citrix HDX Optimized. It was last updated on 5/1/24. However, there is no such referenced path as "%LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams\Backgrounds\Uploads" to have the corporate based backgrounds being added. Any ideas how to achive this? Many thanks and best regards, MB- tictagBrass Contributor
This is 'Classic Teams' (v1.x), the folder you refer to is for 'New Teams' (v2.x). You can already add personal background images and video to Classic Teams i.e. within the application GUI, no need for the 'hack' we've been discussing here.

Hello
welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Yakubu Suleman I'll be happy to help you today.
I understand that you want to know where the background folder in the new teams folder is located. To access the new teams backgrounds folder, you need to:
Close and sign out from Microsoft Teams.
Open your Windows computer File Explorer (by hitting the Windows key + E).
Navigate to the Teams default image backgrounds directory: C:\Users\ <enter_your_windows_your_user_name> \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds
Open the Uploads folder and place the image you want within it.
Optionally, you can make a copy of the Backgrounds folder as a backup or pin the Uploads folder to Quick access. Please click Mark as Best Response & Like if my post helped you to solve your issue.

Tks!- aalsopCopper ContributorI have located the ROOT folder there - but there was no Backgrounds\Uploads folder. I tried creating the path and adding the jpg - but it still never showed in the background selections.
Any other ideas?
Thanks!
