How to automatically record all Teams meetings?
I have subscribed to a Teams Premium trial and added the license to a user's account. As global admin, I'm trying to enable automatic recording on ALL Teams meetings for that user. I don't want the user to need to remember to record meetings.
In the Teams Admin Center, I open the Global (org-wide default) meeting policy, but there is no option here to automatically record all meetings. Instead, the only option is to enable optional recording, but users still have to manually start recording or enable recording before the meeting starts. If the user forgets to select one of these options, the meeting is not recorded.
In the Teams Admin Center, I have created a custom meeting template called 'Coaching'. There is an option called 'Record meetings automatically' with a toggle. That option is disabled. When I hover over it, it says, 'Locked by another option's default value setting'. There is no hint or documentation about which other option is conflicting with the 'Record meetings automatically' option.
How do I record all meetings automatically for a user? It seems so simple in Zoom!
- KristyKairosBrass ContributorJust here to say that this continues to be a problem for me. If anybody has any new solutions?
Seems very conflicting to me as Copilot can only join for auto-recorded and transcribed meetings, but yet, I can't configure auto-record + transcribe?
Now, I lose the productivity gained by Copilot by having to constantly manually check my calendar and am hugely frustrated the one time I forget to record an important meeting.- KevinA905Copper Contributor
I figured this out y'all !KristyKairos
First you must create a custom meeting template.
Then I had to de-select end-to-end encryption. If you deselect this setting then record meetings automatically will be available as a default value! I am screenshotting my exact settings for Virtual Appointment just in case.

Background
We use pipedrive to setup Microsoft teams meetings, we need all teams meetings to be recorded, so selecting a Teams Meetings template is not possible, because Pipedrive is setting up the Teams meeting.
Supporting Info
I would imagine that because the Global Meetings Policy is applied to all users by default, we should be able to edit the Global policy settings, which I have done, however those settings don't ever apply to the users. Autorecord has to be manually selected each time a meeting is created in Teams, unless using a meetings template, which again is not possible because Pipedrive is setting up the Teams meeting.
I've included a screenshot of the Meeting Policy for the Global Policy, which is applied to all users by default, including my test user.
The question is, why is it not working, and how can we get it fixed?
Does it make a difference if the User machine is Azure domain joined or not... or should this apply regardless if machine is on a workgroup or domain? Neil_Benson Have you looked at this? Manage Microsoft Teams meeting recording options for sensitive meetings - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

Paul_Keijzers Yes. I read that article. It tells me that automatic recording is possible using templates or sensitivity labels. But the article does tell me how.
In Teams Admin Centre, I'm blocked from using templates to automatically record all meetings. And I can't find anything relating to sensitivity options. Hence my question.
- Jsnyder285Copper ContributorDid you ever figure out a solution to this? I'm having the same issue.
- Tami_KCopper ContributorI create meetings in Outlook but found when I go to teams after I can change the meeting to record automatically. either one instance or all meetings in a recurring meeting. it's under meeting options.
I don't have access to the Admin Center however, it might be possible to copy a meeting and use it as a template once you have the option set to auto-record. just a thought...
