Surface Laptop 7 ARM64 – KB5121003 breaks Teams and New Outlook
We are seeing a repeatable issue on a Microsoft Surface Laptop, 7th Edition (ARM64/Snapdragon) running Windows 11 Enterprise 25H2. After installing KB5121003, both Microsoft Teams (new) and New Outlook for Windows stop working. They either fail to launch or close immediately. Classic Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Win32 applications continue to work normally. This machine had recently been factory reset and was working properly for several days before KB5121003 was installed. During troubleshooting, I found the following: Microsoft.OutlookForWindows reported Status: DependencyIssue AppModel Runtime logged 0x80073CFC The Outlook failure specifically referenced GetPackageToken Windows reported an error while checking the application's machine-level package status New Outlook's package showed PackageStatus = 64 (0x40) Teams AppModel logs showed the application process/container being created successfully, but the process terminated almost immediately Teams also showed a previous package status of 0x40 before AppModel reset it to 0x0 As a test, I uninstalled KB5121003. Teams immediately started working again. This is especially concerning because we experienced an almost identical issue earlier this year after installing KB5094126 on the same Surface. At that time, Teams and New Outlook also stopped functioning, and removing the update restored them. During that incident, MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS also reported a DependencyIssue. Since the machine was factory reset between these incidents, this does not appear to be the result of an old or heavily modified Windows installation. The pattern we have now seen twice is: Surface is working normally Windows cumulative update installs New Teams and New Outlook stop launching AppX/MSIX package-state errors appear The cumulative update is removed The affected applications work again Has anyone else seen this behavior on Surface Laptop 7 / Snapdragon / ARM64 devices? I am particularly interested in whether anyone has seen: KB5121003 causing Teams or New Outlook failures 0x80073CFC GetPackageToken errors DependencyIssue on Microsoft.OutlookForWindows PackageStatus 0x40 Similar recurring AppX/MSIX issues after cumulative Windows updates At this point, I am concerned there may be a Windows 11 ARM64 servicing or AppModel/MSIX compatibility issue affecting these applications. I have also opened a Microsoft support case because repeatedly uninstalling cumulative security updates is obviously not a sustainable solution.
Surface 7 malfunction
I’m about to start my first year of university this September, and honestly, I never imagined I’d be dealing with this. I bought my Surface Laptop 7 last year during my final year of high school because I wanted a reliable laptop that would last throughout my four years at university. As a student, this was a huge investment for me, and I chose Microsoft because I trusted the quality and durability of the product. Unfortunately, just one day after the seller's warranty expired, the laptop suddenly stopped working. I was told that the main board had malfunctioned. What makes this even more upsetting is that I have taken great care of the laptop. It has never been dropped, never been exposed to water or any liquid, and has only been used for normal schoolwork. I simply didn't expect such a major hardware failure after only a year of use. With university starting in September, I'm devastated. I depend on this laptop for my studies, and replacing or repairing it is a significant financial burden. To make things even more difficult, there is no Microsoft-authorised service centre in Vietnam, so getting support has been incredibly challenging.Surface IT tookit - unusable
I hate Microsoft with a passion everyday they get more greedy, more incompetent, and continue to force PWA (Websites that pretend their programs so that they can advertise to you within your programs. Just wanted to get that out there how much I hate dealing with Microsoft. I'm a 20 year Computer tech, so I'm Ok with computers. Trying to download an image for a customer surface pro 4 laptop. Download the surface It Toolkit - over the last 2 days it says Creative recovery USB Failed Every single Time. Tried multiple USB ports, tried re-downloading the image again, tried cleaning the partition and formatting the partition and USB stick. Do you think that MS would know how to make software usable - absolutely not - they can't even come up with an error message apart from Failed. Yes it's a 16 GB USB Stick. Can anyone assist with why Microsoft is so incompetent at basic programs to download images and to give proper error messages apart from a simple Failed when it comes to formatting USB - right after it completes the Validating Image. Do people on this forum get paid from Microsoft? Or do all of these people simply give out their own time so that MS can continue to focus their efforts on how to make more money while allowing the community to sort out there mess? I hate you Microsoft.
Surface Laptop keyboard problem
Hi, I need help for Surface Laptop (7th generation) keyboard issue. We just received a brand new Surface Laptop (2036 model) from our supplier in France. At the first start, i choose, in win11 wizard, the "French (Traditionnal, AZERTY)" Keyboard. The end of wizard and installation went smoothly But the problem is that when I press certain keys, the caracter that is displayed is wrong. From A to Z keys it's ok. But some others are wrong. Ex : "!" shows "_", Alt-Gr @ displays tild (~), key "-" "_" displays ")" or "°" (with maj associate). I check the language, region, keyboard parameters, I see nothing inconsistent. I've download the Surface Laptop 7 update 26.033.32430.0 msi and installed it. Nothing changed. I've deleted the 4 keybords in device manager and reboot the Surface. Still the same problem. I did a factory reset. At the first start, i choose this time the "French (Standard, AZERTY)" keyboard. Not better... I've download The Surface Diagnostic Tool, but it doesn't help me. We installed 4 other Surface laptops a few months ago, and we haven't encountered any problems (with the same keyboard). Does anyone have any idea what the cause of this problem might be? Hardware ? Surface Laptop Power Issues?
Hi, I have a Surface Laptop that’s 5? 6? years old. The other day it acted like it was no longer connected to AC power and shutdown when the battery got low. It was plugged in the whole time. The power adapter lights up when connected to the laptop like there is no issue. I took it to Best Buy to try one of their adapters and they let it sit, plugged in, for 5 minutes but it does not look to be charging. Pressing the power causes it to act like it turns on, but displays a battery on the screen after the Microsoft logo. My only recourse seems to be to ship it to uBreakIFix but I would like to avoid that route. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you, MikeWill the 26H1 be available to Snapdragon-powered Surface Laptop 7?
The news mentioned that the next Windows 11 update is specifically for Snapdragon-powered X2 ARM64 PCs. Since Surface Laptop 7 is also using the same ARM architecture, would it be great if these laptops receive the same update so that the performance will be optimized too?Battery Report Summary – Surface Laptop 7 (Snapdragon X Elite)

Usage Observations Despite the battery being new (only 9 cycles), the report shows abnormally fast discharge. On November 27, during “connected standby,” the battery fell from 77% (41,200 mWh) to 55% (29,440 mWh) within about one hour. These behaviors are inconsistent with expectations for a new device with full capacity. . Technical Analysis Battery authenticity: The data indicates the battery is original (manufacturer SWD, capacity matches design). Primary issue: The discharge rate is unusually fast and unstable, which is not normal for a battery with so few cycles. Possible causes: Defect in the Battery Management System (BMS). Hi. Would anyone know if Outlook Legacy works on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 with the Snapdragon Elite chip? I cant handle the "New Outlook", as it is missing many of the features that I love on the Legacy version. I am on a Mac, and want to switch back to PC, but need to confirm this before I choose Snapdragon or Intel. Thanks!
Surface laptop 7th & Thunderbolt 3 external display issue
Hello, I have a surface laptop 7th under Windows 7 with the snapdragon processor offering 2 USB 4 ports. I don't manage to get my external display working through thunderbolt 3 connection. When I go to the device controller panel, I see the serial bus constantly refreshing. Otherwise, Windows 11 and the graphic card drivers are up to date. Would really appreciate if someone can help me. Thanks
