Surface Laptop 7 ARM64 – KB5121003 breaks Teams and New Outlook
We are seeing a repeatable issue on a Microsoft Surface Laptop, 7th Edition (ARM64/Snapdragon) running Windows 11 Enterprise 25H2. After installing KB5121003, both Microsoft Teams (new) and New Outlook for Windows stop working. They either fail to launch or close immediately. Classic Outlook, Word, Excel, and other Win32 applications continue to work normally. This machine had recently been factory reset and was working properly for several days before KB5121003 was installed. During troubleshooting, I found the following: Microsoft.OutlookForWindows reported Status: DependencyIssue AppModel Runtime logged 0x80073CFC The Outlook failure specifically referenced GetPackageToken Windows reported an error while checking the application's machine-level package status New Outlook's package showed PackageStatus = 64 (0x40) Teams AppModel logs showed the application process/container being created successfully, but the process terminated almost immediately Teams also showed a previous package status of 0x40 before AppModel reset it to 0x0 As a test, I uninstalled KB5121003. Teams immediately started working again. This is especially concerning because we experienced an almost identical issue earlier this year after installing KB5094126 on the same Surface. At that time, Teams and New Outlook also stopped functioning, and removing the update restored them. During that incident, MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS also reported a DependencyIssue. Since the machine was factory reset between these incidents, this does not appear to be the result of an old or heavily modified Windows installation. The pattern we have now seen twice is: Surface is working normally Windows cumulative update installs New Teams and New Outlook stop launching AppX/MSIX package-state errors appear The cumulative update is removed The affected applications work again Has anyone else seen this behavior on Surface Laptop 7 / Snapdragon / ARM64 devices? I am particularly interested in whether anyone has seen: KB5121003 causing Teams or New Outlook failures 0x80073CFC GetPackageToken errors DependencyIssue on Microsoft.OutlookForWindows PackageStatus 0x40 Similar recurring AppX/MSIX issues after cumulative Windows updates At this point, I am concerned there may be a Windows 11 ARM64 servicing or AppModel/MSIX compatibility issue affecting these applications. I have also opened a Microsoft support case because repeatedly uninstalling cumulative security updates is obviously not a sustainable solution.
Surface 7 malfunction
I’m about to start my first year of university this September, and honestly, I never imagined I’d be dealing with this. I bought my Surface Laptop 7 last year during my final year of high school because I wanted a reliable laptop that would last throughout my four years at university. As a student, this was a huge investment for me, and I chose Microsoft because I trusted the quality and durability of the product. Unfortunately, just one day after the seller's warranty expired, the laptop suddenly stopped working. I was told that the main board had malfunctioned. What makes this even more upsetting is that I have taken great care of the laptop. It has never been dropped, never been exposed to water or any liquid, and has only been used for normal schoolwork. I simply didn't expect such a major hardware failure after only a year of use. With university starting in September, I'm devastated. I depend on this laptop for my studies, and replacing or repairing it is a significant financial burden. To make things even more difficult, there is no Microsoft-authorised service centre in Vietnam, so getting support has been incredibly challenging.Will the 26H1 be available to Snapdragon-powered Surface Laptop 7?
The news mentioned that the next Windows 11 update is specifically for Snapdragon-powered X2 ARM64 PCs. Since Surface Laptop 7 is also using the same ARM architecture, would it be great if these laptops receive the same update so that the performance will be optimized too?
Surface laptop 7th & Thunderbolt 3 external display issue
Hello, I have a surface laptop 7th under Windows 7 with the snapdragon processor offering 2 USB 4 ports. I don't manage to get my external display working through thunderbolt 3 connection. When I go to the device controller panel, I see the serial bus constantly refreshing. Otherwise, Windows 11 and the graphic card drivers are up to date. I bought a Surface laptop 4 AMD edition base model on ebay for under $650 and it has been one of the best windows Laptops I have ever owned. It is not perfect and I would love to see several changes in the Laptop 5 but for now this thing is great. If you make a bootable recovery drive you can choose windows 11 which I did. One of the things I really like about surface devices is the ability to get a downloadable image to restore the device from factory original settings and since my laptop came with Windows 10 I much prefer being able to install a clean image of windows 11 instead of upgrading. I like the fact I can upgrade the SSD myself which I will do when the warranty expires. I also wish the AMD platinum edition came in an all aluminum build instead of the altancara. I kind of hate the alcantara because it adds a lot of flex to an otherwise super solid device. I do like the fact I don't have to worry about scratching the aluminum deck but I would rather have aluminum. The next Surface laptop I get will probably be a larger device than the 13.5" that I have now. The size and weight of this device are really nice. I use it a lot because it is so light. However even with only 8gb ram the Ryzen 4th gen processor really is fast. It would be nice to have 6th gen Ryzen in the next edition and cheaper ram upgrades. The speakers and sound even though I can't see them are great and because there are no speaker grills there is no dust to clean. The screen for an LCD panel is just about perfect BUT and this is a big BUT not having an anti-reflective coating and huge bezels in 2022 is what made me only buy the base model. If they would invest in making the screen slightly larger and the bezels slimmer, put a good AR coating with a scratch resistant glass like gorilla glass or panda glass it would be perfect. I would pay the big money if it had an up to date processor and better screen tech. I love the large glass track pad but again the alcantara flexible surface means that in my lapt sometimes the trackpad is pushed by the flexible surface making clicks not register. Usually this happens when I have the laptop against my stomach on my lap or if I am pressing down on the deck too much. It is really annoying and if it had the solid aluminum deck it wouldn't happen. The other area is battery life. These laptops need a bigger battery. I know it will add weight and bulk but I think they could increase by 20% or so without too much of a penalty and with newer processors should increase battery life significantly. Overall though for what I paid there really isn't a better laptop around. At full price I don't know. The other thing I really like is driver support from Microsoft. When you get any other OEM brand you get their driver updates which usually stop after a year or so depending on the cost and make. With MS devices they do all the updates and they optimize the build of windows better than any other OEM. After buying other brands for years I have decided I am done with any other brand. Yes, these devices are expensive but you get a really good design and materials for the most part and good software support. For a desktop or gaming rig which I don't use anymore I might go back but consoles work for gaming and who wants to be stuck in one place anytime they want to use Windows?
Surface Laptop 3 & Dock 2 - External Display Problems
Has anyone else had nothing but issues with external displays on the Dock 2? I wish I could return my Surface hardware (thank god we only have two users on Surface equipment) and replace it. Dock 2 is running the driver/firmware contained in SurfaceDock2_SEMMforDock_Win10_17763_20.054.29469.0.msi Some common problem (solved with one or more disconnects & reconnects of dock to laptop): display will not output picture display output is a test color pattern Image problems on the display (1/3 of picture is shaking)
