Surface Laptop 2 Keyboard Issues (Hid Mini Driver)
Upon imaging a Surface Laptop 2 with our basic image from the older Surface laptop model the Surface Hid Mini Driver driver fails to power and thus the keyboard doesn't work. if I revert back to 03/27/2017 driver it works fine... but then the laptop automatically updates itself to the latest version that brakes again. I have blocked the update in WSUS. Is anybody aware of a fix for the latest driver? Does the PC somehow think its a Surface Laptop 1st gen and somehow downloading the incorrect driver possibly? I also downloaded the latest firmware/driver package from MS and tried that version and it also doesn't work. Seems to be the same exact version that gets downloaded from Windows Update.SolvedWC_KStillJan 11, 2021Brass Contributor71KViews0likes25CommentsSurface laptop 4 install windows keyboard and mouse not working

Hi, hoping someone can properly help me, as I have searched soo many community forums and still not able to solve my problem! I have a Microsoft Surface Laptop 2. When I purchased it, everything was working fine, never had any issues with it at all. I used to put it to hibernate sometimes days and it would start no problem. However, ever since I upgraded to Windows 11, I get the blue screen of death. It shows INTERNAL POWER ERROR, and only ever comes after the laptop is in hibernation or sleep mode (by putting the lid down). I noticed that it doesn't occur if it is in hibernation / sleep for a short period of time. But if I leave it for, lets say over night, more often than not, it the screen will remain black, the keyboard lights up but I cannot select anything or do anything. After up to 5 minutes, the BSOD appears with INTERNAL POWER ERROR. Now, I have tried all suggestions, from increasing the hibernation file, numerous times, updating my graphics card driver (graphics card is Intel UHD Graphics 620), going into safe mode and disabling and uninstalling the graphics card, removing the drivers to the Microsoft Basic adapters and installing the latest (non-beta) version, turning off the hard drive sleep timer, fast start, power troubleshooter, scannow, chck /f etc etc, you name it, I have done it all. So I decided to debug the mini dump file and search for its errors on google. Low and behold a few other people have had similar BSOD INTERNAL POWER ERROR stating the same thing. But none of theirs were resolved, either by the basic responses from someone or there was no follow-up. Please don't let that happen to me. I really like my laptop but it is becoming increasingly frustrating as I have to restart and load up all my open programs at once. Below is a copy of my latest minidump details from when I had the crash today. I have a larger full memory dump saved too which I have also uploaded into a zip file on my OneDrive here: The reliability monitor log (XML), reports and screenshots in the share link below: I have turned off hibernation with powercfg -h off in cmd. Since then my laptop has crashed twice, with no BSOD but just a blank screen. It has now gone for 3 days without crashing from waking up, however I have checked the reliability monitor and it shows an X consistently which shows that MFResident.exe has stopped working and the reliability of my laptop has dropped to 5, consistently. I am conscious if I turn on hibernation again, I will get the same problem again. Please can someone help me!!! I need to remove this error and get back to a problem free laptop (i really don't want to go back to Mac but windows always always has so many problems!!) Your help would be appreciated.ilcapitanoApr 17, 2023Copper Contributor2.7KViews0likes2CommentsSurface Laptop Studio IT Pro Drivers?

Hi: This past Monday this Surface Laptop 3 starting running slow, delay when opening programs, etc. Already tried: Disabled Antivirus Ran Windows Updates and rebooted but still running slow. Rolled back Wi-Fi driver to earlier version but still running slow. Used Surface Tool to update firmware but still running slow. Other devices on same network are running normal/fast. Reset machine to factory image but still running slow. Task Manager shows CPU, memory and disk is normal, i.e. none of them running at 100%. Any suggestions/ideas greatly appreciated! Hi there! So my Surface Laptop (1. Gen.) had two blue screens and after the 2nd one, it didn't boot Windows 10 anymore (Boot Error). I went to the support page and there the only solution is to make a recovery usb drive and re-install Windows completely. I'm not 100% sure if there is a backup from everything important. That's why I made a Windows To Go usb drive following this tutorial, just to have a last check: https://uk.pcmag.com/dvd-burners/128596/how-to-save-data-from-a-pc-that-wont-boot I managed to do that. In Windows explorer the drive is displayed, but it's encrypted with Bitlocker. I found my Bitlocker key in my Microsoft Account, the key-ID matches to the bitlocker on my drive. Still, Bitlocker says the key isn't correct - even when I'm trying to copy&paste it. If I try it again, I get "error code 0x800701e3" and the message that either Windows or the drive are corrupted. After a restart of Windows To Go I can try it again, but the key still doesn't work. In "Create and format a hard disk partition" the drive is indicated as working without an error. Is it just not possible to access an internal SSD from Windows To Go? Some sort of security mechanism? Or is there another problem? Or is my SSD broken? I tried to contact the support - unfortunately, it was impossible to call someone, but I did chat with two persons. Still, they couldn't help me.Belen915Sep 19, 2021Copper Contributor1.5KViews0likes2CommentsBrand new Surface Laptop 3 Fingerprint-like smudges
hello I recently bought the new surface laptop 3 which I bought a few days ago. In these days, we tend to clean our devices more regularly. I cleaned my Surface Laptop 3 with a 70% Alcohol spray and cleaning it with a 100% cloth after i removed it from the box(microsoft suggestions in their website). These weird smudge does not get off and I when I touch it there is no feel to the touch. The weird thing is it just the lid although I cleaned every part of the device... I have never dropped this device and there's no water got inside the device and I always keep it in a safe environment with normal temperatures. Please see the image to get what I mean. What should I do with this?omarayman2003Jun 23, 2020Copper Contributor1.5KViews0likes0CommentsSurface Laptop 3 & Dock 2 - External Display Problems

Problem Description: Every application starts up with a delay of 1-2 seconds. Opening another screen of an running program does initalize instantly though.. Build and Firmware I'm running the 20H2 build 19042.685 and have the Surface Laptop 3 firmware from november 2020 installed (SurfaceLaptop3_Win10_18362_20.101.8577.0) Examples: - Applies to any application, offline tooling such as Draw.io, command prompt - Opening a new tab in Chrome is instantly, but when I go to an URL it tends to take seconds before the page is initialized to actually perform and connect to the designated URL. - Opening Git bash takes 2 seconds and then it takes up to a minute to load its content before I can perform any commands Does anyone have any experience regarding my current state?Ruofan8Dec 23, 2020Copper Contributor1.4KViews0likes3Comments
