Cast button in toolbar doesn't work anymore
I'm on a Windows 10 tablet and since a few weeks in all my 3 installations (Stable, Dev 141.0.3500.1 , Canary 141.0.3518.0) the cast button in the toolbar doesn't work anymore. Only option I have now to initiate casting is with: Menu-Button => More Tools => Cast Media, which is quite annoying. Could someone from the developer team please take a look into that? Cast button in toolbar doesn't work anymore I'm on a Windows 10 Microsoft Edge is up to date. Version 140.0.3485.81 (Official build) (64-bit) and cast button in the toolbar doesn't work anymore + button pinned to the bar won't go away anymore. I recently upgraded to version140.0.3485.14 (Official build) beta (64-bit) and noticed that my PWA, even if they open correctly in a independent window, don't show the "running window counter" on the taskbar. So, for example, if a open Outlook, the window open and loads the app, but if a I click the icon again, it opens another window, wich is a little annoying. I tried removing the PWA from Edge, rebooting, and installing again, but didn't work. Because the only change I made is updating Edge, I think is related to this build. (too lazy to go back or install the stable release)

I can’t log in to my outlook account while connected to my home network, which has the default configurations from my Mexican ISP. I already tried multiple devices connected to the same network. I need to use my cellular data instead., which allows me to log in correctly. I’m not using a vpn or anything like that and it’s been happening since a couple of months ago. This is the message I’m getting: “please retry with a different device or other authentication method to sign in”
How to open office files in Edge browser without downloading
Hi. In December I asked Microsoft support about possibility to open office files in Edge without downloading. It was working on some webpages but on the other not. That is answer from support: " The configuration of Office files to open from email or work/school portals is under the development and enterprise support teams, but they are still considered a work in progress since there are sources that still require you to download the Office files before they can be opened and may require other policies to be deployed. " Now I'm looking for some information if there was any progress in this case. For me it is still working that same but maybe in new versions there are some additional settings which are enabling that feature also in intranet or in mailboxes.
[Wayland] PWAs no longer appear as separate app windows — all group under main Edge icon
Hi, Since around 2025-09-07 to 2025-09-10, I’ve noticed that on GNOME (Wayland) all installed PWAs (even across different profiles) now appear grouped under the main Edge browser icon in the GNOME Shell dash/taskbar. Previously, each PWA would open in its own window group with its own icon. This is still the behavior in Chromium/Brave/Chrome, and can be restored there by editing the PWA’s .desktop file to set: StartupWMClass=<same value as Icon> However, Edge now seems to ignore StartupWMClass completely on Wayland, breaking workspace separation and making task switching hard. Environment: Ubuntu 25.04 GNOME 48.0 / Mutter (Wayland) Kernel 6.14.0-29 Intel Iris Xe GPU Edge (latest stable, observed post 2025-09-13) Repro steps: Install any PWA (e.g. Outlook, Teams, Spotify) from Edge Launch it (from any profile) Observe that it appears grouped under the main Edge browser icon Expected: PWA shows under its own icon and window group like in Chromium-based browsers Actual: All PWAs are bundled into the main Edge window group Editing StartupWMClass in the .desktop file no longer helps This regression makes PWAs much harder to manage on Wayland. Please route to the Linux/Wayland team if possible. Thanks!
Unable to load workspaces
I have never been able to use Edge Workspaces on my main personal profile. I have already performed the following troubleshooting steps: Logged out and back in with my profile Downloaded Edge Canary and signed in there, but it doesn’t work on Canary either Cleared cache and cookies Reset Edge Resynced Reset sync data Checked that there is no “workspaces” folder in OneDrive I think the issue is clearly related to my account, because on my work account it all works perfectly. I am attaching the error log. How can I resolve this, if there is no way to reach assistance for personal free users? Thank you.
Reintroduce the detachable version of the Edge Sidebar on Windows 11, similar to Windows 10.
Description: I would like to request the reintroduction of the detachable Edge sidebar feature that was previously available on Windows 10. This functionality allowed the sidebar to be detached from the browser and used as a standalone panel on the desktop. Use Case: This feature was extremely useful for quickly accessing pinned apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Google Messages without needing to have the full Edge browser open. It allowed me to view and respond to messages instantly while multitasking, providing a seamless communication experience without cluttering the desktop with browser windows. Benefits: Enhances productivity by keeping messaging apps always accessible. Allows quick, lightweight access to key apps without the need to switch between browser tabs. Improves the user experience for multitasking and communication on the desktop. Request: Please consider adding the detachable sidebar feature back to Microsoft Edge for Windows 11. It would greatly enhance usability for those of us who use messaging apps and want to manage them efficiently without the need for a full browser window. Edge 140.0.3485.81 "crash" Excel run in non-interactive mode
No idea what's going on there. Edge versions before 140.0.3485.81 without a problem with Excel non interactive mode, now with .81 it doesn't work anymore. i have a PowerShell Script that use the Excel COM-Object, it check Server Parameters and save this infos to a .xlsx file. Now with .81 Excel not save the file and the Sheduled Task remains in status is Running. The Script write also a TXT-File. In this i can see, that all servers check. Then i have restore the system (OS Windows Server 2025) with BackUp this monday, now with .66 the script work without a problem! I update .66 --> .81, try the script again and i have the problem again. :-) I try the same things in our Testdomain with a Windows Server 2016, Excel and myPowerShell Script. with .66 no problems with .81 Eexcel not save the file. We tried: turn off every restriction from Intune - same error. add sites to Edge allowList - same error We cannot find any decription or help on registerAsChildFrameAck. Sidebar not syncing or accepting new app additions (+). Copilot button is dead/inactive. Sidebar settings are well configured. Using the latest version of the Ubuntu OS and MS Edge. Functionality appears to be absent as product was released without full functionality....Lame!Mica issues again (title bar + context menus)
Weird bug again - in both Stable/Dev the title bar mica effects are not working, but the dropdown & context menu (three dot settings) is. In Canary, the title bar mica effect *is* working, but the dropdown/context menu is not (solid white). I reported via feedback as well. Canary: Dev/Stable:
[Feature Request] Please allow hiding the Extensions button in Edge toolbar
I am using Microsoft Edge version 140.0.3485.66 on macOS. In this version, the Extensions menu button (the puzzle icon) is forced to stay visible on the toolbar, and the toggle in Appearance / Customize toolbar settings to hide this button has disappeared. I use some extensions, but I don't want the extension (puzzle) icon to show on the browser interface. You just need to roll back this feature to the state it was in the previous version. Keeping the Edge interface clean is a very good reason why I prefer Edge. I like using Edge instead of Google Chrome, and this is an important reason! I don't want you to make it more and more like Chrome!

I am a user of the beta version of Edge on Linux. From time to time, I encounter bugs that I’d like to report. After some searching, this forum is the closest I have found to a bug tracker. So I was wondering whether there’s a dedicated place for reporting bugs or should I just post here?
