Windows 10 child account missing from sign-in screen after being added to Microsoft Family
I searched for the resolution to the issue above and found nothing related to my specific issue. In order to help others that may find them selves in this same place, I am posting how I resolved the issue. After a Windows 10 refresh, one of my child account no longer showed on the Sign-In Screen. I removed the account from MS Family Safety online, then removed the account off the PC and confirmed the account no longer was on the PC. The mandatory windows reboot, and again confirm the account was removed from Family & other users. Adding the child account back into Family Safety, I confirmed the account was added back in under Settings → Accounts → Family & other users. Confirmed that I could see the account in the registry, windows had a SID. net user [child account name] OR net user Confirming the account is registered on the PC. Confirm we have a SID wmic useraccount where name='[Account Name]' get name, sid, status Once I confirmed that windows was seeing the account and the child account appeared under Settings → Accounts → Family & other users, was enabled, and had permission to sign in, but it did not appear on the sign-in screen or under Switch user. Resolution: Open secpol.msc. Under Local Policies → Security Options, enable Interactive logon: Don’t display last signed-in. Sign out and use the resulting Other user prompt to sign in with the child’s Microsoft-account email address and password. While signed in to the child account, open Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options. Add or recreate the child account’s Windows Hello PIN. Sign out and set Interactive logon: Don’t display last signed-in back to Disabled. Restart the PC. After the restart, the child account appeared normally on the sign-in screen. The account had already been enabled, allowed, and assigned a valid Windows profile. Recreating the Windows Hello PIN was the step that restored its sign-in tile. Full disclosure, Copilot assisted with troubleshooting, this is a high level review of the steps taken that resulted in the account showing up on the Sign-In screen.
Getting the error "Password sign-in isn't available. Try another method"
This is more of a complaint and a vent than a question. I constantly get that infuriating Outlook (web) "error" message when trying to log in: "You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password" or "Password sign-in isn't available. Try another method," even though my password was correct. Microsoft, stop forcing us to enable cookies or avoid private browsing just because you are incompetent at securing and scaling your systems. I don't have this problem with Gmail, and I'm thinking about closing my Outlook account. Please fix this error! Who was the genius who had the brilliant idea (100% sarcasm) to force me to open a different email account, find a code, and paste it just to log in, instead of using a method that is MUCH faster, easier, and more convenient for me—like simply typing in my password? I should be the one to decide the "level of protection my account has"; it might be an account with nothing important in it, so I have NO interest in 2FA or using codes sent to alternate email addresses, etc. I think this error stems simply from my refusal to allow Outlook to allow tracking of cookies and history, combined with terrible design where they block access if a high volume of traffic is detected from a single IP address. Hello!!! Most ISPs use IP pools to route hundreds or thousands of users to the internet; there is no way for us users to control that. But I repeat, that I don't deal with this kind of nonsense with other email services. And in case anyone kindly wants to offer suggestions to "resolve this" (which aren't real solutions anyway, just workarounds): I do NOT use VPNs; I always log in from home, from the same computer (nothing changes). I do not use—and will not install—an authenticator app for an email account that holds nothing important; it is a hassle to have to open an app or check an alternate email just to log into my account on a PC. Microsoft, one never expects anything good from you, yet you still manage to disappoint us. PS: Every time I run into this error, I send a message via the "Give Feedback" option; I do this repeatedly, hoping to flood your inbox with this complaint.Account Recovery Request
I've been trying to recover my hotmail.com email address. I was able to reset the password using my mobile number. But when I sign in again, it is blocked again. When I try to recover using my mobile number: (Try another verification method. That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method.) I submitted 3 recovery forms already but were unsuccessful. My hotmail.com account is only being used as a receiving email address of important bank emails. I don't remember sending any email. I need help to call or chat with support.
Problems logging in to Microsoft non-profit
Hello everyone, I have signed up our non-profit organization for Microsoft Non-Profit and it was approved. In the approval-mail I was instructed to go to the "non-profit hub" to sign in and select the plans we would like to use. Unfortunately, when I try to log in at the non-profit hub, I am redirected to a blank page with just a loading circle spinning for all eternity (I've let it spin for 3 hours at one time). I've tried different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) as well as different devices, the result remains the same. The username and password are correct - the former was additionally given in the approval-mail, the latter was checked several times. Is there another way to select the plans for our non-profit organization? Thanks in advance.Windows 10: Empty blue screen upon logging in
Hello, I don't know why, but whenever my laptop with Windows 10 reboots, right after signing in, the very first thing that shows up every time, before even the desktop has the chance to show up or any program can load, is an empty blue screen. It's not the BSOD, but a screen with a blue background similar to the one that appears sometimes after Windows Update installs some updates and Windows asks you to set something up, except that this one doesn't have any text image. Two buttons are available on the bottom: "Repeat" and "Cancel". If I hit "Repeat", it seems the system tries to do something – the rotating loading circles and the words "One moment..." appear very briefly in the center of the screen, but nothing happens and the screen goes blue again with no text. I tried to do this multiple time, but nothing different happens. On the bottom of the screen there are also icons to access accessibility options ("Ease of Access") and audio volume. If you hit "Cancel", the screen disappears, I'm taken to the desktop screen, and the startup process continues normally, with programs opening, etc. Here's how this annoying screen looks: It seems harmless enough, seeing as the solution is simply to hit "Cancel" every time, but the problem is that this laptop is being used as a file server and should be as autonomous as possible, and whenever it starts up, it should be able to complete the whole sign in process unattended to be able to load programs and everything, so I would like to check if anyone has any idea what this screen is and how to get rid of it. I tried restoring Windows to a previous state (from up to 1 month ago) and it didn't solve the problem. Searching the web for similar cases also haven't gotten me anywhere, unfortunately, so any help is appreciated. Thanks, Fabio
