Hi, I have an i7-7700K. This CPU have TPM 2.0, It's compatible with Secure Boot, it have 4 core up to 4.2 GHz. It also is 64bit.

I don't know why this CPU is not supported by Microsoft to install Windows 11.

Update, 10/18/2021: Yesterday I bought a MacBook Air, I know that  the MacBook isn't the best computer and that you are limited within the horizon of Apple. But I don't trust Microsoft and the new Windows 11. What if I bough another computer of 2.000 US dollars and in some years Microsoft decided that I need a new computer? At least, with the new M1 chip of Apple I know that they will support the hardware and the will send me Updates and give Support.

@ozchamo, that is not what the topic is about. The title is pretty clear. It's about a specific CPU not being approved to meet the minimum requirements of Windows 11, (which has unusually strict ones). Making alternative suggestions to send people to other OS'es is not a solution. It is fanboy advertising and topic derailing.

@SugarD-x You OK there dude? You flamed me over this twice in May, why do it again? Ran out of enemies here? In the meantime Microsoft has not addressed anyone's needs here (nor have you) and I found a better way to avoid making great hardware obsolete. Call me a fanboy if you must, but Fedora 36 is better than ever on this ol' hardware, and It's not like this thread is helping me with running WSL on Windows 11, is it? Will we talk again in January?

Hi @SugarD-x

" Making alternative suggestions to send people to other OS'es is not a solution."

Yes, I agree!

But unfortunately, I do not expect that this processor because of this discussion will be added to the lists compatible with Win11.

@A1-A1 I agree with you. But, as has been pointed out in this thread, you CAN circumvent the restriction and it DOES in fact work quite well. for example, I can NOT afford to have my wife's computer go wonky yet I upgraded hers following all the recommendations to get around it. I've had ZERO problems and the updates continue to arrive just as they do for other "supported" processor types in my forest.

Hi @Chris1231

Yes!

Anyone can do whatever they want with a personal computer, but if someone breaks into your bank account -> (your explanations are not enough) you should separate the legal aspect from the fact that the computer is working properly.

Of course, such workarounds are not allowed in the Organization!

@Jeronimo2440

I have four W10 devices on a network. Three are W11 compatible. The fourth is an I7-7700 that is the most capable of the four devices. I am not switching to W11 until all four devices can be upgraded. The same operating system is essential so that users can go seamlessly from machine to machine. This reduces the potential for errors. If I am eventually forced to switch, that will be the signal to try the Apple M2. I have never been an Apple fan. But, Microsoft's appeal has declined to Apple levels.

@Chris1231 hi sorry for being just a “regular” user- is there a site that explains ein 11 work around a for the i7700? Cheers, Dave

@Jeronimo2440

What about this work-around?

The easy way to install Windows 11 on unsupported CPUs - The Verge

I haven't tried it because I just learned today about this W11 unsupported issue and I am tired of dealing with Windows.

the thing is that they decided that they were not going to service all computers forever… a cpu life is supposed to be 3 years… then they could have offered 300$ for another service plan but few would pay it and it might not make sense …

Understand. My I7-7700 is more robust than my wife's I5 laptop, which is supported. I purchased the I7 with the idea that it will last longer than three years for my needs. I'm keeping all four of my systems on W10 because past disparate versions of Windows did not play well together on the network. Eventually, I will do a work around W11 upgrade on the I7, if I still own it.
I mean it’s possible that there are no more bugs but after 5 years you could also switch to freeBSD, rhel , or gentoo Linux to name a few good options or many other options ….

I would avoid the workaround if possible and try to opt for installing either FreeBSD or Gentoo Linux. Gentoo has become an extremely user friendly environment and has received an incredible amount of acclaim and has recently been the top contender as far as personal computing operating systems goes capturing the most significant part of the market next to Microsoft and Apple. FreeBsd is a truly impeccable operating system that would really harmonize your components and make everything function better if you need windows compatibility for example for old programs you just need to use a program like bhyve that will allow for that… certain programs like Microsoft Office can be replaced with Libre Office is getting better reviews because they are one of the few business softwares that have opted to actually listen directly to the customers as opposed to the product owners, etc..

Stop advertising *nix to us. This is a forum from MICROSOFT about MICROSOFT WINDOWS. We are discussing a MICROSOFT WINDOWS issue with our CPU's. We don't need to keep getting our email notifications blown up by fanboy posts. Take it somewhere else. It is NOT a solution to our issue. It is just an off-topic excuse to try and gain *nix followers.

That being said, proposed workarounds exist and have been mentioned several times here. Switching to another operating system is NOT a workaround or solution. That does not FIX the problem. This topic exists because these users WANT to use the operating system being discussed with their CPU's. Suggesting that we just abandon that is a blatant waste of our time.

Well said, SugarDx. My computers are tools, not toys. I don't want them to become a hobby. I just want them to perform tasks. When I get the urge to play, I grab my guitar or build a piece of furniture.
Apparently you can't read when MULTIPLE people have said that there are workarounds. The only ignorant person here is you, clearly. Your choices are NOT the only ones. Once again, this is a forum for MICROSOFT WINDOWS. Stop blowing up our email notifications with your irrelevant advertising for *nix.

Also as a side note, you obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about because Microsoft not supporting our CPU's doesn't mean they will suddenly explode. Hardware doesn't fail just because it isn't officially supported. That's not how any of that works.
Listen, Stop slandering people because you feel uncomfortable about yourself, No one here is here to troll so stop clout chasing. The entire compatibility range is not just dependent on the processor, So when I said you should check ram and other specs I was right. Second, stop being rude af to everyone who doesn't share your opinion. We aren't evil just because we have different opinions. Go chase clout off of Microsoft forums.
AND..... YOU HAVE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE FULL SYSTEM SPECS AND COMPATIBILITY!
Again, refer to the name of the forum. Thanks.
