Normal themes on High Contrast mode on Edge 138+
Hello. How do I disable the high contrast theme in Edge 138+? but not disable on Windows 10/11. I currently have the official build 140. I managed to disable high contrast for websites, but the Edge GUI is still completely white and gray. Before build 138, it was possible to change the theme, but since build 138, it's not possible? Is this Google's or Microsoft's idea? and how to fix it? because I want to install classic theme from Edge/Chrome store.
How to set the ozone platform hint flag
I have a laptop with a high-res screen, running Ubuntu 22.04 and fractional scaling enabled at 175%. This works nicely for Wayland applications, but XWayland/Xorg applications become blurry. In chrome and chromium I can make the browser use Wayland by setting the flag chrome://flags/#ozone-platform-hint to "auto", but this flag seems to be missing in Edge. I noticed I can launch successfully edge from the terminal with --ozone-platform-hint=auto, and I played a bit with updating the .desktop file Exec command's to include this, but this would break PWA's I have installed such that they no longer appear as dedicated applications. Any one know any good work-arounds? And if anyone from the Edge product/development team reads these discussions then please consider this a feature request to add the missing flag 😄
Edge Dev Version 137.0.3255.0 (64-bit) corrupted extensions
-After upgrade to latest version Edge Dev is reporting many extensions as being corrupt. -Repairing individually also does not resolve the issue, the entry disappears in Extension settings. -Extension icon on taskbar show as blue jigsaw piece instead of default Extension icon. -Fresh install of latest dev version also behaves similarly. -When trying to install extension from MSoft store get Error message below:
Microsoft Edge/MSN Ads on videos has forced me to stop using it
I cannot believe that Microsoft Edge's home page (MSN) now inserts commercial ads into most every video article it posts. As I try to watch the article, ads now pop up, frequently more than one. It forces me to either sit through watching the ads to read some mundane article or close the video and get off the browser. I am soooo sick of advertising trying to get me to spend money on some stupid product. I have now found myself closing the browser and not using Edge/MSN most of the time now. What a waste. At least Firefox and Google have not started doing this (yet). Has anyone else found this to be true?
Edge PDF reader comment issue
Hi all, I tumbled upon an issue with Edge PDF reader, while adding comments in a PDF document. Issue While adding comments in my document, everything was working fine until it wasn't (added around ten comments before it stopped working). Basically I'm able to open the comment popup and type my comment, but unable to validate it. However, it seemed to me that it's a mouse focus issue. How to reproduce it I got the issue while using two Edge windows side by side on the same monitor (each taking half the screen), while having a second monitor (that I use for other stuff) aside. The problem seems to solve itself somehow after some time when closing one of the two Edge window and putting the other in full screen. When I try to add a comment, I first highlight the text, then clic on the comment button on the popup menu and type my comment. However, when I want to validate the comment, the wrong cursor is displayed when I hover the "validate" button (the text insert cursor instead of the hand). I have to clic once (the text in the PDF doc previously highlighted is no more) which change the cursor to an arrow, then another clic which closes the comment menu, whitout adding the comment. Workaround I managed to add a comment in this situation by typing the comment, then using the tab key to select the "validate key" and press the enter key, and it worked. On a side note, I find it quite complicated to submit feedback, I think I spent a good half an hour before reaching this forum (I don't even know if it's the right place). Microsoft seems to have recently increased the number of Edge/Bing popups making "recommendations" about how to use Edge -- "do this", "do that", "try this", "try that". If you, like me, prefer to use Edge as a working environment rather than as a billboard for Microsoft features, you can turn off recommendations by changing a flag: Type edge://flags in the address bar and press enter Type Show feature and workflow recommendations in the search bar on top Click on the dropdown menu beside the option and select Disable Restart Edge You will probably have to do this on all your Windows 10 computers, each individually. I am not sure whether or not the flag change will disable Microsoft's notifications about setting Edge as the default browser (if it is not) or Bing as the default search engine (if it is not), but the flag change will cut down on the splatter of other "recommendations".
Selective Inversion of Non-Image Elements still inverts image files.
Subject: Issue with Auto Dark Feature in Edge Canary Hey everyone, Since the release of Edge Canary v141.0.3518.0, the "Web Content Force Auto Dark" feature no longer processes the "image_behavio r/none/" line in the edge://version command line when the option "Enabled with selective inversion of non-image elements" is selected. As a result, image files such as .png, .svg, and .jpg are being inverted, which makes the appearance of web content look broken, as shown above. The current Canary version is 141.0.3524.0, and this issue remains unresolved. If anyone has a solution—especially if this is related to device or configuration-specific settings rather than a general version-specific bug—I would greatly appreciate your assistance. I have already tried several troubleshooting methods, including editing shortcuts through Properties, completely reinstalling Edge Canary, running DISM and SFC scans (which indicated no anomalies), performing a full virus scan (which also showed no issues), launching Edge Canary with specific commands in Command Prompt as an administrator (e.g., --enable-feature:...), and clearing the browser cache and history. If anyone can provide a fix, it would be conducive! Thank you! When I try to capture an image using the browser's internal "screenshot" function, I find that the resulting image is in JPEG format. Both "Capture area" and "Capture full page". This format is blurry, which is fine for photos, but for screenshots, the loss of image quality is fatal. I would have preferred to use the PNG format. At least in the Canary version, this little nuisance exists.
