Windows Office Hours is our continuing series of live Q&A for IT professionals here on Tech Community.
How does it work?
We will have a broad group of product experts, servicing experts, and engineers representing Windows, Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Windows 365, Windows Autopilot, security, public sector, FastTrack, and more. They will be standing by here -- in chat -- to provide guidance, discuss strategies and tactics, and, of course, answer any specific questions you may have.
Post your questions in the Comments early and throughout the one-hour event.
Note: This is a chat-based event. There is no video or live meeting component. Questions and answers will appear in the Comments section below.

I have devices that are eligible for Windows 11 24H2 but they do not think they need to update when we prompt them to update. Does 24H2 have full general availability to all devices, or is it's rollout still being staggered? For context, the devices we have are on Windows 11 23H2.

Check for any Safeguard Holds, that is generally why the update is not being offered. Windows 11, version 24H2 known issues and notifications | Microsoft Learn There is several still in place, one or more of which could be applicable to devices in your environment.

I have 3 Dell laptops in my inventory that were purchased with Windows 11 Home pre-installed but were upgraded to 11 Pro so that I could join them to my tenant. Because the upgrade was purchased from the Microsoft Store, and the install completed using the Product Key provided after the purchase, I had to use a personal email to setup the system as a new PC in order to be able to apply the Product Key. Now that the systems are Entra joined and are being managed in Intune, I'd like to remove the profile that's tied to my personal email but I can't figure out how. Is there a way to do this?

What happens when you try to remove the user account and profile through "accounts" in settings?
- ScottSnodgrassCopper Contributor
Hi, Dom. Not sure if my original reply was posted so forgive me if this is duplicitous.
I don't have the option to remove the account or profile in Settings.
Since the upgrade to 11 Pro, I've been able to join all three devices to my tenant with the end users' Microsoft work account, but doing so just creates a separate profile for the end user and the original profile that was created with my gmail account remains and I cannot see any option to remove that profile.
I tried to "remove the device" in thru my gmail settings, but doing so just dropped the devices from my gmail purview and did not remove the profile.

For clarification regarding updates coming to Outlook set to occur January 28th and February 11th: Will these updates affect the functionality of Classic Outlook for users? Furthermore, will Classic Outlook retain compatibility during the implementation of Windows 11 and throughout this transition period? We are also interested in receiving strategies for the timely implementation of the new Outlook to facilitate a gradual rollout, which may be tailored to accommodate staff members who are accustomed to Classic Outlook.

In the M365 Admin Center, there is a Message Center post MC976059 that addresses this. The summary is as follows: "New Outlook exists as an installed app on the device. For instance, it can be found in the Apps section of the Start Menu. It does not replace existing (classic) Outlook or change any configurations / user defaults. Both (classic) Outlook and New Outlook for Windows can run side by side." Classic Outlook is not going away any time soon. You can use this side by side installation to allow users to get comfortable with the new Outlook while retaining access to Classic Outlook.

how can we prevent Outlook (new) app from installing on enterprise systems and do a controlled distribution?
or will Windows 10/11 Enterprise not ever receive it automatically? Will GCC have any affect?
- Dom_CoteBrass Contributor
Enterprise (M365 E3/5) customers are not impacted. They were deferred until early 2026.
Business (Premium) users can manually opt back to classic outlook manually and stay there until 2026.

My question is - what would you think is expected behaviour would be when a user’s locally cached windows profile is deleted, with regards to windows 10/11 “user” policy settings in a configuration profile, on a cloud-native device (Entra joined only). Should they get reapplied at next logon or not, in my experience they don’t unless you also delete some additional registry keys under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager e.g. SID value of user ?
If I delete these registry keys, when the user logs on, after 5 mins (there is a temporary one-off scheduled task that gets automatically created that executes the deviceenroller.exe) and those policy settings will be set. Config Refresh is already configured for any windows 11 device but I still experience the issue.
NOTE: I tried posting a lot more details but comment gets removed, so trying less detail this time but can provide a lot more information

Tested this on a few devices, the policies do apply after the device policy sync happens. If you manually initiate the sync via company portal it will push the HKCU registry values down for the deleted user.
You might have some other conflict or configuration deviation. Devices I tested either had OEM ready image or Win11 pro consumer ISO from Microsoft.

Thanks for responding. When you say "after the device sync happens", do you mean within 8 hours (default sync/policy refresh time) or only after you have done a manual sync? I've tested this in two separate environments and have the same issue.

Hello, I may not be able to make the actual event as it overlaps with the Microsoft 365 Lighthouse community call but something I hope can be added to Windows 11 build very soon: With the rise of Copilot+ enabled PCs (Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD) we are needing an easier way to find the AUMID (Application User Model ID) for Windows apps so Intune admins can leverage various settings within Intune. Specifically, we are needing to use the newly available Settings Catalog setting "Set Copilot Hardware Key (User)" with the AMUID of the Microsoft 365 Copilot/Microsoft 365 (Office) app on Intune joined PCs to ensure the physical Copilot key opens the correct instance of Copilot on company devices. ❓ My ask: Can the AMUID be visible and copy/paste enabled within the "App Settings" screen in Windows 11 settings for each installed app on Windows? Reference: Evolving the Copilot key experience for commercial organizations - Windows IT Pro Blog.

Given that the AUMID is a fixed identifier that is specific to the app itself and does not vary between users or devices, collecting the info in inventory has limited value and would just add to overhead costs and resource usage. You can easily (IMO) find the AMUID for any installed app using the info at Find the Application User Model ID of an installed app | Microsoft Learn. For apps installed on remote devices, you can leverage a remediation and the path detailed at How to collect custom inventory from Azure AD Joined devices | Microsoft Community Hub.
If you feel strongly about collecting this info using inventory, please submit feedback using the Intune admin console.- David_SwensonIron Contributor
Jason_Sandys, This ask was misunderstood. I am needing this added to the Windows 11 Settings app for each installed app. The AMUID should appear here (see screenshot) with Copy/Paste enabled so admins can more easily find this without having to utilize cumbersome PowerShell. These days, PowerShell SHOULD NOT be considered an acceptable method for Microsoft Users and/or Admins to rely on for simple functions.
