Event details
Hello, I may not be able to make the actual event as it overlaps with the Microsoft 365 Lighthouse community call but something I hope can be added to Windows 11 build very soon: With the rise of Copilot+ enabled PCs (Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD) we are needing an easier way to find the AUMID (Application User Model ID) for Windows apps so Intune admins can leverage various settings within Intune. Specifically, we are needing to use the newly available Settings Catalog setting "Set Copilot Hardware Key (User)" with the AMUID of the Microsoft 365 Copilot/Microsoft 365 (Office) app on Intune joined PCs to ensure the physical Copilot key opens the correct instance of Copilot on company devices. ❓ My ask: Can the AMUID be visible and copy/paste enabled within the "App Settings" screen in Windows 11 settings for each installed app on Windows? Reference: Evolving the Copilot key experience for commercial organizations - Windows IT Pro Blog.
Given that the AUMID is a fixed identifier that is specific to the app itself and does not vary between users or devices, collecting the info in inventory has limited value and would just add to overhead costs and resource usage. You can easily (IMO) find the AMUID for any installed app using the info at Find the Application User Model ID of an installed app | Microsoft Learn. For apps installed on remote devices, you can leverage a remediation and the path detailed at How to collect custom inventory from Azure AD Joined devices | Microsoft Community Hub.
If you feel strongly about collecting this info using inventory, please submit feedback using the Intune admin console.

Jason_Sandys, This ask was misunderstood. I am needing this added to the Windows 11 Settings app for each installed app. The AMUID should appear here (see screenshot) with Copy/Paste enabled so admins can more easily find this without having to utilize cumbersome PowerShell. These days, PowerShell SHOULD NOT be considered an acceptable method for Microsoft Users and/or Admins to rely on for simple functions.

Hi Jason_Sandys,
I don't think David_Swenson was asking for the AUMID to be added to Intune inventory. By my reading, he just wants to be able to copy it to the clipboard from the app entry in the Windows Settings app.

Microsoft
You're right. Not exactly what was asked for but the answer still stands as this is easily discoverable using PowerShell.
