The i7-7700K meet the minimun requierments to run Win11. But its not suported, Why?
Hi, I have an i7-7700K. This CPU have TPM 2.0, It's compatible with Secure Boot, it have 4 core up to 4.2 GHz. It also is 64bit.
I don't know why this CPU is not supported by Microsoft to install Windows 11.
Update, 10/18/2021: Yesterday I bought a MacBook Air, I know that the MacBook isn't the best computer and that you are limited within the horizon of Apple. But I don't trust Microsoft and the new Windows 11. What if I bough another computer of 2.000 US dollars and in some years Microsoft decided that I need a new computer? At least, with the new M1 chip of Apple I know that they will support the hardware and the will send me Updates and give Support.

Jeronimo2440 keep in mind that if you don’t upgrade by a certain time you will no longer be eligible. Also I have a laptop with a pentium n3540 if you will look up processor compatible list no windows version has it on its list.
- Diablo1969Copper ContributorDue to the security requirements of the new processors. Sorry to say, but in 2 more years when Windows 10 is EOL, you will be ready for an upgrade. Unless you like working on 15 year old OS's and 7 year old PC's

jege41 No need to get indignant about it. MS doesn’t need to accommodate anyone if they don’t want too. They could be like Apple and just put out new PC’s with their OS’s on it and force you to buy an entire new rig if you want the latest and greatest. But they don’t, and it amazes me when people complain about having to update their aging PC’s in order to run the latest OS. I think you would be better served by running Linux. Then you can run whatever you choose for however long you choose. You’re choice!
- pemihakCopper ContributorIsn't it up to Micro$hit to fix such issues? So that this and other cpus are compatible with windows 11.

Hello, I am using a translator for this message.
I am in the same situation with my i7-7700k I find it unbelievable that I can't upgrade to windows 11
I have a super powerful computer, but microsoft is forcing me to change hardware, I will not change hardware I will continue on windows 10, I hope they change their mind and allow this processor.
I hope they change their mind and allow this processor.

Juankaaranda just go on the microsoft website, download the windows 11 installation media, put it on a USB stick, reboot, and upgrade and be happy. It won't stop you and it will work. I've been on 11 since like 3-4 months now.
- GC_WoodCopper ContributorBut, you will imminently find that Microsoft adds a watermark to the lower right corner of your screen to advise that you are running Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.

Juankaaranda this question has been answered from every angle. Please read through it in order to avoid repetition.
- jege41Copper ContributorI bought. Mac Book Air and kept it less than a week as they are useless if you plan on using it for media gathered from various sources, heck you can’t even save legit Netflix content to watch offline. The reason of course even more outrageous as Apple is more or less cornering you to subscribe to Apple TV, which I will add allows you to save content to watch offline. I would gladly by a MacBook Air if I could wipe it and run and Windows 10. By the way none of Windows simulators can override the content limitations that Apple forces on developers.
- Eldon ElledgeCopper ContributorMicrosoft, what gives. over 156K views, over 200 comments and still nothing. I have always been a Microsoft fan, over Apple and Linux, but this is just simply wrong. And easy to correct, yet nothing.
Things like this is what drives the Microsoft hate club and gives it credit. Things like this will also bubble up your your other services.- jege41Copper Contributor
I’m able to get an evaluation version with my 7700k what’s the difference between it and the official version? I did however need to install a TPM module which I bought on eBay for 12.00 USD

I have Alienware R3 15 that is able to run the most demanding games we have today, Red Dead Redemption, Far Cry 6, etc but it is not good enough to run Windows 11.........LOL so yeah ....do not know what to say to Microsoft except FO Microsoft ......
- jege41Copper ContributorTPM module
- SixpieceIron ContributorA tpm module is very common and has been around a long time. First off there is likely a parameter in the installation to ignore this requirement , if someone would care to share or you can search it but secondly you probably have it and you need to enable it in your bios settings.

You need to have a TPM module

After installing a TPM on my MSI Z270SLI Plus/i7 7700K and changing my Windows update preferences to Windows Insider Program I am able to install Windows 11

How to install Windows 11 on a i7-7700K CPU in EASY STEPS
- Go on the Windows 11 Media creation tool download page at MS
- Download the tool
- Start the tool
- Choose to create an USB stick for an update on another computer
- Restart your computer and boot on the stick
- Update your Windows from the USB stick installation
- You will have to check a box at a moment saying you understand your poor little CPU is not officially supported, but it will work.
You will end up with a REAL Windows 11 official installation, not in insider program mode.
It will work forever (well, you know), and windows update will work.
I've been on 11 since more than a month and everything is great.
- P_BullockCopper ContributorI am beside myself on this issue. When I put together this system I had every intention of still running Windows 7. Although many attempts to do so failed. I took some fishing around but I figured out that this processor would not allow anything less then Windows 10 to be installed. Now that processor is not support in 11 I am absolutely shocked. What is this, we need a new processor for every release of the OS? I could maybe see if it was an older processor released before Windows 10 and probably would not argue the point.
- ViperSB1Copper ContributorOP says he bought a MacBook because Microsoft is cutting CPU support for Windows 11. LMAO!!
Dude, Microsoft is copying the OG(Apple) of cutting hardware support for new OS's.
You'd be much better off running a Linux machine.
Microsoft is copying Apple here to try and sell people on new Surfaces, it's that simple.
They don't care about us or what we want. They care about $$$ and that's it.- SixpieceIron ContributorFreebsd or bsd operating systems are excellent as well..
