How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Windows 11 ?
Hi @all
I did not find this function 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. How can this function be found and enabled in windows 11?
I can't work with multi-tab on windows 11.
Thank you!

- chien7Copper ContributorI want "Never Combine taskbar buttons" turned on also
- SyswpitBrass ContributorTakes long..! I don't see how people work with this. Just something as simple as Outlooks reminder box will cause Outlooks icon to be combined... and you need an extra click.
- AndrewLatterCopper ContributorI can legit not use the OS like this. I'd rather use LinuxMint, which still offers this option rather than installing 3rd party software, for achieving basic functionalities like this one.

I couldn't agree more. W11 is absolutely bollocks. The only way I can see them taking note is if more people make more noise on social media. I can guarantee Microsoft aren't checking this forum.
- pchaudharyCopper ContributorNot having this feature wastes a lot of time
- matrium0Brass ContributorIt's honestly hard to understand why they would not add this feature. So many want it and my taskbar is now 95% empty unused space (no kidding - ultrawide monitor). That could be used to make me more productive - you know, like every Windows version before allowed...
I hate it and wish I could downgrade my work pc- FunkhauserBrass ContributorIt is insane.
We use ultrawides as well so our taskbars are all 95% empty space too.
Microsoft have until October 2025 to fix this ridiculous taskbar situation before Windows 10 end of life.

Looks like MS might FINALLY be doing something about this!

I won't happen.
Look I'm vehemently against the ribbons used in office since they are bad for my productivity. I would want the style of fully customizable ribbon from before 2003. I have already open office because of that... but in work they require us to use office due to full compatibility needs. Many of us have written about it. It is 20 years here and no change, there is still and always the same unergonomic ribbons.
- ferretpowderCopper ContributorCome on Microsoft!! It's been over a year since win11 was released! I've registered to post here just so I can post this one message and add to the peoples voice. Using excel is a nightmare!!! I click on it in the taskbar and get 5 tiny thumbnails for me to choose from 😞 PLEASE, please, please give us the option to not collapse windows!
- emaktechCopper ContributorAt this point I can only imagine Microsoft holds actual disdain for its customers. This is the most active thread on the entire Tech Community forum by a significant margin.
This feature request has been at the very top in Feedback Hub for well over a year now.
Yet complete silence from Microsoft...
I guarantee that there are tons of users waiting on this to be fixed in order to upgrade. Which in itself is completely insane to me, since it's such a simple issue to resolve. Completely baffling that Microsoft isn't prioritizing this!- WillySkjIron ContributorTotally agree! I'm so surprised MS doesn't fix this. Win11 is for me and many others non-existent without this functionality. Makes me seriously consider linux/other os'es.

Requesting escalation of this issue to P1 thank you

gilbertduenas yes this makes a lot of sense this is a real productivity killer

Grouping taskbar items is unproductive because you go from a single click to having to do two clicks to achieve the same result. Please add this feature asap, I will likely revert back to windows 10 for now because of this.
- MSFreakCopper ContributorWhat, this is still not fixed? I tried Windows 11 when it came out, but went back to Windows 10 due to the missing "never combine taskbar" button. Now I wanted to install Windows 11 again thinking they have fixed that issue for sure, but what do I see? Common, guys at Microsoft, please give us that option back.
