How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Windows 11 ?
hoanglongson for now you may try https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases
You just put dxgi dll into windows folder, restart and you can tweak taskbar to be like in windows 10 with nevercombine options etc. Everything is described in the link.

Elboyler Sir, the link you have posted was not enough accurate. But anyway, that app just solved the issue for Windows 11
here is the instruction: I just installed the app, gave admin permission (scary, but 'thanks' to 'genius' from microsoft who decided he/she can be innovator in usability based on focus group of people with very strong deviations from the common user group),"
5 seconds the bar disappeared, and then *PUFFF* the old Win 10 configurable bar is back!
I got the app from here:

- DeletedSep 16, 2023As Explorer Patcher is changing system files, and that may break stuff, a inplace upgrade will reset those to the correct ones.

Hi, I am also an ExplorerPatcher user but be cautious, before every Windows major update, remember to update ExplorerPatcher first (right the taskbar, select Properties, you will see update), otherwise it may result in the menu disappearing.
- DeletedSep 16, 2023No need for ExplorerPatcher, Windows 11 will have this feature for everyone in the 23H2 update that is coming out soon.
Also, I don't think we are allowed to share 3rd party apps on Tech Community,

I don't see anything in his documentation specifically about Never Combine Taskbar Buttons on windows 11, which is what this thread is all about. Can you be more specific?

The explorer patch worked for a year but became incompatible after the most recent Win 11 update on my desktop PC, causing screen to flash after login. Solved by uninstalling the patch.

schwartzllc Hi
explorer patcher caused problem also for me after last Windows update, I had to uninstall it too. But they have fixed it, I am using it now.

If you use this app, be sure to uninstall it before you do any Windows updates. I am still recovering from a Windows Explorer loop at boot up caused by ExplorerPatcher. Took me half a day of decrypting drives and restoring Windows to get my PC back. Never again for me.
- MarcusD2125Oct 27, 2022Iron ContributorWindows 11 + Explorer Patcher + 22H2 update = broken system. What a surprise that was.

Hi MarcusD2125
" 22H2 update = broken system."
Can you explain it ( 22H2 just restores the default settings for Win11 )
Does not damage Windows!
- MarcusD2125Oct 27, 2022Iron ContributorDepending on the configuration of Explorer Patcher, updating with 22H2 can render almost the whole desktop unusable. Nothing responds. Keyboard shortcuts need to be used to open applications. Uninstalling EP and reinstalling with new version fixes..
Whole point is that it's a hassle. Admittedly it's only going to be a potential problem every six months, but still not something anyone is going to want to deal with. Third party solutions are not solutions, they're band-aids and not really acceptable. More importantly it demonstrates potential for more severe issues or even damage to an install in the future. This time it was relatively minor, next time? Who knows?
- Boe DillardJul 10, 2022Iron ContributorHello,
Can you please link directly to that part? I installed EP_setup and it said it installed. I see MANY dxgi dll files on my system so I'm not sure if I need to replace the one in the windows directory or leave the existing one? When I go to taskbar properties in the normal way I do not see nevercombine as an option - although it might be there.- Boe DillardJul 11, 2022Iron Contributor
Sorry - I found a video on youtube. I just went to taskbar properties thinking it would be there - the key is to go to taskbar and click properties.
This is a great program - I appreciate the recommendation.
