Column filter bug?
Hi all, does anyone know if this is a bug or a pretty bad feature?
While trying to filter a text column users start having issues with some sort of autoselecy feature. When they write the first letter SP autoselect the item and this happen all the time the user press a key, so if you want to filter for a specific field you need to delete all the letters that the system add, becouse if you just press the next letter you'll be at the end of the autoselect suggestion (img.3). This is an issue when people need to filter in list with high number of items with for example code the are the same for the first 5-6 characters
Thank in advance for any suggestion, the issue started yesterday.

fratrucc Not the best experience, I agree. This looks like what Microsoft would call a "design change". I'd call it a "regression" as it used to work much better.
It might be worth either submitting something in the Microsoft Feedback Portal: SharePoint · Community, or an MS support ticket, but don't like your chances of getting anything changed unfortunately.
EDIT: Looks like it was a regression based on this reply to another post.

Here is another post with the same issue: Filtering autocompletes based on top result | Microsoft Community Hub
It impacts fields such as managed metadata fields as well and this issue is super annoying. I have filed and MS ticket on this as mentioned in the referenced post.

1. Check Column Types: Open a SharePoint list or library.
Check the column type (text, number, date, etc.) to make sure it supports filtering.
2. Clear Browser Cache: Open your browser settings and clear the cache and cookies.
Reload the SharePoint page.
3. Check view settings: Open the SharePoint list or library.
Click View > Modify View.
Check the filter settings to ensure that they are configured correctly.
4. Use another browser: Use another browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge, Firefox) to access SharePoint.
Check if the filter is working properly.
