The New Outlook Notifications for email with rules not working. Missing features
I have to use the New Outlook to be prepared for the eventuality when Microsoft forces the change.
I'm missing notifications for emails coming in when it has mailbox rules to organize it.
The Notification Center in Windows is ok, but there should be a way in the rules to set a notification in a window like the Reminders window.
being able to set a specific sound would be beneficial as well.
I've had to resort to using Categories and constantly checking Outlook to see if I missed anything. This has resulted in missing many time-sensitive alerts and emails. Such as a Midnight internet outage at a business-critical building on my day off. Resulting in 6 hours of downtime during business rather than a resolution before business opening.

Hi Scott_J945 ,
This is a known and frustrating limitation. While we wait for Microsoft to fix native alerts for subfolder routing, the best workaround is Microsoft Power Automate.
Instead of using an Outlook Inbox rule, you can create a simple, no-code Flow.
It helps organize email just like Inbox rule, directly from the cloud, ensuring you never miss a critical update.
I've attached an example of the Flow I use to replace my failed Outlook notification due to Outlook Inbox Rules.
Here is a breakdown of each step:
Due to Outlook's notification limits, delay moving incoming emails. Instead, let use Power Automate schedule the move.
In my case, the first step is running a monthly housekeeping task (e.g., July 1, 2026) to organize specific emails.
Ensure the 'From' email is exact, and customize other fields like 'Top' as needed.
Keep in mind that Power Automate can only process a maximum of 1,000 emails per run—anything beyond that will be ignored. To move the filtered emails to a specific destination, add the Move email (V2) action. The settings shown below ensure that every email retrieved in the previous step is automatically routed to the MyInvois HASiL folder
Once above stesp completed, Save the Flow.
Above just one of the use case, the whole idea is just use Power Automate Flow and the issue will be resolved.
Hope it helps!
- tb_eeCopper ContributorThough not at such a scale, I've also run into missed e-mails because I didn't receive a notification when said new e-mail was automatically put into a folder through a rule.

tb_ee I've now switches back to the classic app and was still having issues. Then realized the rules were still online and running, overriding my rules in classic outlook. Had to rebuild all the rules in outlook and turn them off online.
