VIEW ALL PARTICIPANTS IN VIDEO MEETING
We have 8 people on a daily video meeting in Teams.
Default setup gives 3 or 4 video screens and then rest only appear as small icons in the bottom corner. We need it so all 8 can be seen with the member speaking being a larger window and the others still visible in video, but in smaller tiles. (similar to how it looks in Zoom)
Is it possible to reconfigure settings?
Right, lots in this thread to unpack.
1. The 4 video view will work in the desktop app on Windows, Mac, Linux or the mobile app on Apple or Android. It is not possible in the browser. I don't believe this is likely to change in any useful time period.
2. The 9 video view is in development, and Microsoft have heard loud and clear from MVPs that it's important. As far as I know it won't be here during April.
3. The view you see will always be the students that talked most recently. If you keep your students muted and unmute to speak it shouldn't be confusing to work out who is speaking.
4. As the teacher you can select any of the students in your meeting to view their video by clicking on the ... next to their name in the list of attendees and selecting pin, once you have finished unpin to get back to active speakers.
4. Your school districts are probably wise to not permit the use of Zoom, they have a responsibility to not allow your student data to be accessed by third parties or several other risks. Look up zoom bombing if you think it'll be fine, or when zoom were sending data to Facebook without permission, or when hackers worked out how to access private meetings.
5. Teams has very good controls to allow you to keep order during a meeting, controlling who can speak, present etc. It's harder to achieve this in Zoom. Tips in my video attached.

LinusCansby I totally agree with many of the posts here. I use zoom at home for family gatherings and it displays video of all participants at the same time without a problem. Our schools are also using zoom with their classes. At work, however, we are using Teams and it can only display 4 at a time. Very frustrating to not have the same capability in Teams. Everyone on my team is working from home now due to COVID-19, so this is even more urgent now than ever. Please add this functionality!!

I really do hope this post is getting the attention of the powers that be

I would like to know what benefit comes from seeing all participants for the duration of the meeting. My organization is moving to using Teams as well as result of the recent security concerns surrounding Zoom. Users have voiced this concern but no one has provided a legitimate use case to support their labeling Teams to be lacking.
Please assist me so I can address their concerns appropriately.

Earlier posts in this thread present good arguments. Namely, teachers that need to maintain engagement with all their students, or medical professionals that may be addressing a group of patients.
There are also other threads in this forum that touch on the same topic.- mslexijoBrass ContributorExactly! I teach PreK and my customers are 3-4-5 years old. I need to visual connection. It’s important to engage them as much as possible and to see if they are engaged. Very difficult to pin each one and reach at the same time. This class has 18 participants and I can see 4 and lots of dots. There are many facing this dilemma now. Also, how to make system audio default when you want to share videos from other sources like you tube.
- PLPartnersCopper ContributorMoved from Zoom to Teams and this particular limitation is frustrating. Please make this available ASAP.

I am happy with 4 video option on Teams as it provide much more security whereas Zoom is unsecure as you might have seen recent news on zoom security issues.

alitaqvi At this point I would be happy if I could see 4 video feeds. I have the desktop app but am only able to see whoever is speaking at the time. I don't even have the option for gallery view. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am the only one in my meetings that doesn't have that option.
- mslexijoBrass ContributorI agree!
- RBartl8Copper ContributorI've found a way to do this; even though it's a bit of a workaround. When you're in a meeting, click the Show Conversation icon and that shows a running list of everyone who's logged in. Sometimes people are grouped in groups of 5 or more; just click the drop-down to see all of them.
You can even go back after the meeting to see who was there. Obviously this might not work for meetings where there is a lot of discussion in the Conversation.- mslexijoBrass ContributorI know but when you want to see your students this just doesn’t cut it.

M_SAN04 Hello, I wish this was a feature that was working now, for even more people then just 9, I don't know about many people here, However due to the Pandemic this function is now a must, as well as more control restrictions for members joining the calls.( Little more in the style of Zoom, Or Webex) under Classroom team feature.
We have major schools, for students and staff alike screaming out now for this update to be rushed forward to now.
A lot of schools require this now!... please Microsoft... do something about it.
- Looks like Microsoft is speeding up the release of this feature due the recent number of votes on the uservoice request.

I am a new user. I am currently teaching at home due to the Coronavirus pandemic. My screen can not show all the participants ( four or nine related to the discussion below). I can only see one participant and myself on the right bottom. I have more than four participants during the meeting. Is there any setting for that to allow me to see all participants?
Please help.
Jenny.
Jenny_T1450 Install the Teams app rather than using the browser and you'll see 4 participants at a time.
- tonysutherlandCopper ContributorWhat happens if people can't install the Teams app (for instance, if their PC is locked down), or they are using a guest PC, or are reasonably IT illiterate with respect to installing new apps like Teams?

This is so immensely frustrating. I'm a teacher, and we've been having wonderful class sessions with my 26 kids via Zoom. I can see all of them, I can respond to their facial expressions and reactions. I can call on their raised hand without them needing to hit the digital 'raise hand' key (and I don't have to 'lower their hand' afterwards). It's better for teaching, management, and community. The 4-person limitation - or even the 9-person limitation - will be a big step backwards. Unfortunately, our district is saying that Zoom is not an approved app and we have to use Teams. PLEASE address this issue ASAP. I can't believe that with all of the brainpower and money that Microsoft has, they can't figure out how to give me the same level of functionality as Zoom.

Hi Steve, as a teacher of 26 Year 4 students, point 4 of your post sounds good in theory but is SUPER frustrating in practice. Trying to deliver online content to kids who are 7 years old briefly and succinctly is hard enough without having to view multiple screens, find, click on participants, pin, unpin, find, click on, pin, unpin participants and so on, and so on... along with the added hassle that students can unmute themselves and derail your lesson.
So, we are using Zoom during lockdown which is able to overcome all these issues during lockdown here in NZ.

M_SAN04What a terrible limitation! We too are rapidly losing entire departments to Zoom even when we tell them that we will not support the software. Microsoft are swiftly losing their competitive edge with this feature!
- TugsimIron Contributor
Kotus-Tech We're very much in the same boat. I've got entire departments (c. 40,000 users total, given the COVID-19 WFH scenario) going back to WebEx and saying that there's no point in them moving to Teams as a result of being restricted to a 4-person video view. How can a tool as old as WebEx (to say nothing of Zoom) still be kicking Microsoft's tail in the usability and features stakes?

@Dan Holme and @Mark Kashman perhaps you could shed some light on this feature?
