VIEW ALL PARTICIPANTS IN VIDEO MEETING
We have 8 people on a daily video meeting in Teams.
Default setup gives 3 or 4 video screens and then rest only appear as small icons in the bottom corner. We need it so all 8 can be seen with the member speaking being a larger window and the others still visible in video, but in smaller tiles. (similar to how it looks in Zoom)
Is it possible to reconfigure settings?
Right, lots in this thread to unpack.
1. The 4 video view will work in the desktop app on Windows, Mac, Linux or the mobile app on Apple or Android. It is not possible in the browser. I don't believe this is likely to change in any useful time period.
2. The 9 video view is in development, and Microsoft have heard loud and clear from MVPs that it's important. As far as I know it won't be here during April.
3. The view you see will always be the students that talked most recently. If you keep your students muted and unmute to speak it shouldn't be confusing to work out who is speaking.
4. As the teacher you can select any of the students in your meeting to view their video by clicking on the ... next to their name in the list of attendees and selecting pin, once you have finished unpin to get back to active speakers.
4. Your school districts are probably wise to not permit the use of Zoom, they have a responsibility to not allow your student data to be accessed by third parties or several other risks. Look up zoom bombing if you think it'll be fine, or when zoom were sending data to Facebook without permission, or when hackers worked out how to access private meetings.
5. Teams has very good controls to allow you to keep order during a meeting, controlling who can speak, present etc. It's harder to achieve this in Zoom. Tips in my video attached.

Hello All,
Is there any TECH info out there, how these other layouts actually work?
AFAIK the 2x2 layout is built locally by receiving 4 video streams, means the local teams client app stitches them together locally.
Does the 3x3 and all the other new layouts (together mode!) or 7x7 also work that way??? I would assume, this puts some serious burden onto the client.

Does anyone know if there have been any advancements on this? Looking to be able to have one main video feed focused on an attendees screen, and then all other attendees across the bottom. M_SAN04

MS Teams now has a new meeting environment which allows you to see more people at once. It also opens the meeting in a new window so you can move it out from your main Teams window which is really handy. Presenting a PowerPoint – when you use the Powerpoint sharing option rather than the Window option - is also much better as you can now see the hands up and chat at the same time as the slides you are presenting. But it only works when you have at least 10 people on the call.
- Click on your profile settings (your initial) up in the top right hand corner of Teams and select Settings
2. Tick the Turn on new meeting experience check box
3. Restart Teams by right clicking on the small Teams icon in the system tray in the bottom right of your main screen and clicking quit. Then reopen Teams. This should work but if not, I rebooted my laptop and then it worked.
4. Once this has been enabled meetings will open in a new window which you can move/resize separately from your main Teams Window. The meeting bar has also been moved to the top right of the window and when you click on the ellipsis (…) you will get some additional gallery options. The Large Gallery view can only be enabled when you have more than 9 people in a meeting . The Together Mode puts people in a lecture room style view.

Srsivanesan Is this feature rolled out in Canada or just the US? I talked to a Tech at Microsoft who told me it was not available yet in Canada and was not aware of the ETA.

any updates on this? Expected date?
- LeanneA1857Copper ContributorDoes anyone know how to change your own video view so you can see it as part of the 4 on the screen when you are talking? Mine is staying in mini format in the bottom right and would be good to see what others can view a - it used to do this when in conversation?

LeanneA1857 I haven't been able to find this either. I suspect that it isn't possible. If you submit a feature request let me know and I'll upvote it because this is something I'd like as well
- LeanneA1857Copper ContributorIt used to do this so it looks like a recent change? Your own image was always one of the 4 in views if you were in conversation?
- aliajmal082Copper ContributorWell , I'm an undergraduate student of bs Software engineering and zoom is a mess for us specially now a days, because we have to attend online classes , the world is probably going to hell and here our teachers are keep asking to us to submit assignment , you will understand if you really faced that's condition else u will not
- ageisen2000Copper Contributor
aliajmal082 teachers asking you to submit an assignment really isn't that far-fetched. If you are unable to continue classes online you could try taking a semester off and pursuing a personal project or something while this cools down.
Everyone is effected by coronavirus, but your teachers still need to do their jobs. It's not that they are trying to actively hurt you by assigning homework. You, as a CS undergrad student (which I was as well), should be actively pursuing knowledge to better yourself.
Don't stress too much about coronavirus. It's unlikely that you will be severely impacted from a health perspective from it. Just focus on school, take this extra time to learn all that you can. I promise you will enjoy CS.
- aliajmal082Copper ContributorYeah exactly I'm enjoying , but I'm enjoying freelancing , it's super cool to working from home, because I'm introvert 😉 . Best of luck you to , I was not serious so much like your response I know the current situation we are facing , I was just trying to have a fun , relax dude ! Haha stay save stay home!

Zoom is much better for teaching and teams of more than 4 people. MS TEAMS is a collaboration tool not a teaching tool.
Students love Teams because they know that the teacher can only see 4 videos, so in a class of 30 students the other 26 can go to sleep and you won't know they're sleeping.

Are by any chance aware of aware of any ETA for the 3x3 feature given we are almost at the end of April? Can't really find anything official from Microsoft yet..

"We are pleased to announce that the number of participants that can be viewed simultaneously during a Teams meeting will increase from 4 to 9. Additionally we are working on increasing this limit even further so that more participants can be viewed simultaneously.
We'll begin rolling this out in late April and expect to be complete by early May."

Is there a way to pin an answer or information to the top of the Post? Or select an answer as the solution to the question or problem of the post (Other than the community manager that is). Most liked answer should be viewable as a link on the OP's post.
I say this to save people some time that are just looking for a straight answer on the subject.
After reading for almost 3 pages of commentaries (most were informative or at least funny), the conclusion is certain. In the foreseeable future there won't be (as it's not in the development plans), a way to see the video of all the participants at the same time when there are more than 9 participants.
And on top of that (least until May and maybe even later), no more than the video of 4 participants at the same time will be viewable in Teams.
Also, no more than 1 participant video at the same time when using web-browser version of Teams.
End of PSA.

M_SAN04I agree, this is killing me...
I have fought the War in my K-12 going against the Google grain to push teams as I feel is is what is right to use in functionality. Then something this little about derails the whole use for the lack of being able to see everyone in the meeting. Its like putting paper bags over everyone's head in a classroom and taking it off when it is time to talk. It's a joke.
You can integrate to SOME degree Zoom but does not write to the calendar in Teams and you manually have to put in all the meeting information. If you are going to offer online meetings, the team members want to see everyone and not just the speaker. This is going to have to change in order to be competitive. If you want the K-12 space MS Teams has to listen to these type of feature needs ASAP!
