Teams crashes my computer and restarts it

Hi,

It happened twice in one day! I'm recording a Teams meeting and about 15-20 minutes, my computer (Macbook Pro Touchbar) JUST RESTARTED with no warning. The first time, I thought I missed an update notification, but it happened again and I realized that Teams is the app that is causing my computer to restart. Does anyone know why??

I know this is a couple years old at this point, but I recently experienced this issue with one of my clients. I found that they were running a 64-bit version of MS Teams, I was able to uninstall the 64-bit version and install the 32-bit version and it seems that the 32-bit version is no longer causing the restarts

So I get that if I were using the Microsoft App on my laptop but I am accessing using the web/cloud access that doesn't require the app/program to be installed.  I get the blue screen and the computer does a full reset.  This is a company laptop and I don't have the access or option to make changes to the settings, etc.  I thank you for your recommendation, but I am not sure if that will help me.  Hoping for more recommendations on this thread.

I don't know if this is related, but I discovered today on a Dell Latitude E5470 that when Teams starts up with Windows and then my user clicks on the Teams Icon to launch, it crashes the computer with a SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED error. My fix is to turn off Teams on Windows startup in the task manager. When my user clicks on the Teams icon during startup, it no longer crashes.

I actually checked and that is not set to run on startup anyway, so not the cause for me.  I can't even access Teams through online cloud application, as soon as I click join, it crashes the same as the previous commenter for system error.  I am at a loss, the new Windows update crashed my router, I had to purchase a new one, it crashed my extender, had to get a new one, and now has caused my company VPN to crash on a regular basis.  PLEASE HELP!  I have Government meetings that require Teams and can't use my cell phone because I have to share files/views.

The machine I had that problem with, I ended up creating a new computer and copying the data over. I sent it off to Dell and discovered that the motherboard needed to be replaced. It was out of warranty so it cost me $230, but that was cheaper than buying new.

After I updated my entire computer and I haven't had any more sudden crashes. But it seems like many people responding to this have updated their devices.

I'm not finding much help on the web to resolve this.  I decided to uninstall Teams from my hard drive and just put an icon on my screen that directs me to Teams online.  Seems to be just like the hard drive-saved version.  I'm hoping not to have any issues with cloud-based Teams moving forward.

I'm experiencing similar issue if i start sharing my screen during Teams call. Updated all the drivers on the machine, but issue still persists.

ilya_i I had exactly the same problem. My computer crashed and restarted when I started sharing the screen. I finally solved it uptading the driver/adapter of the graphics. You have to go to start/settings/devices/display settings/advanced display settings/display adapter properties for Display 1 (it will open a new window)/properties (it will open a new window)/driver/update driver/

      I hope it's useful.

atavn_9 Hey, so for my current Teams meeting, I have no sound at all. Everyone else on the call can hear - I'm getting a message that there's no speaker detected for the program. This is clearly something that changed after I updated my drivers last night. Help????

Teams crashed my computer 3 times in a 2 hour video meeting this morning.  I rely on Team video daily and this crashing is now happening multiple times a week.  This is getting ridiculous.  My computer doesn't crash except for when I'm in a Teams video call.

I use a Logitech BRIO camera.  I was told by my IT guy to reinstall the camera device drivers a few weeks ago, which I did.  No change to the frequent crashes.  The crashes are immediate (no warning), shut down the computer completely, and then the computer starts up on its own.

      Please help!
