Speed dial and saved contacts disappearing in Teams calls section
Hello,
I have a bit of a complicated problem where my speed dials and saved contacts are disappearing from Teams "calls" section.
The contacts and speed dials mentioned appear again as intended when I sign-in again to the app. The problem started last week.
I have removed Teams from the computer and installed it again and checked that it has the most recent version updated.
Any suggestions?
- Hi I think it has been fixed in a recent update. I have not had them disappear in about 2-3 weeks now. Praying that is the last I’ve seen of it.

Those that are reporting this issue can you confirm if just adding a contact to the Speed-Dial list gets the entire list ?

Premal Gandhi We are still experncing the same issue. Adding a contact to the group fix the issue temporarrly but the issue returns after few hours. I deleted the group and created a new group and still same.
I also try to get rid of my other contacts but teh list is keep growing.
- JMaaskeCopper ContributorOur person as well has been good for 3 weeks since the update. I think they fixed it 😮

There was an issue which could cause speed dial contacts to not appear, and this issue has been mitigated. Are you still experiencing this issue, AleksiBe?- MegaManKYBrass ContributorHi I think it has been fixed in a recent update. I have not had them disappear in about 2-3 weeks now. Glad to hear that, MegaManKY!
- kgarberCopper ContributorWe just experienced this issue as well. We have a client that we moved to the Microsoft Teams phone system and are using the Yealink T58A phones.
We have one user who reached out last week because his speed dial contacts were missing. They were working just fine for the first couple of weeks, but then they disappeared. Whenever we would try to add the contacts to either his desk phone or desktop app, only one contact would show up. If we deleted that contact, the other contacts that we had added to speed dial would show up for a couple of seconds and then disappear but if we looked into the contacts themselves, they said they were in the speed dial group.
This was only happening to one user on the tenant.
We were using the M365 business standard license and the M365 phone system license. I added the M365 E5 license and the legacy domestic calling plan and was able to add the speed dials without any issues.
After we confirmed the speed dial contacts were showing up, I moved them back to their old licenses and the speed dial contacts stayed and we have not had any issues since. - luvsqlSteel Contributor
I just noticed my contacts were disappearing from Contacts and Speed Dial. I was literally taking screenshots while creating a manual and noticed my 3 contacts named Adam disappeared from Teams. Then all the Adams were gone and now I only have 1 contact stared with A (missing 15 now).
Teams Browser has the same issue so this is not a cache issue. Outlook client and Outlook browser show all my contacts just fine but they slowly disappeared from both Teams browser and Teams Desktop app.
A new contact created in Outlook also does not show in Teams, but a contact I created in Teams did show in both Outlook client and browser.
Microsoft support has not been helpful. We should not have to create a UserVoice to tell Microsoft to stop deleting contacts from Teams.- luvsqlSteel ContributorMicrosoft support just told me they know it's an issue and told me we have to pay them more money to fix it. I recommend everyone on this thread call and complain.
"There has been an ongoing issue with Outlook contacts not syncing in Teams when the user have an SMB Voice license (Microsoft 365 Business Voice).
The workaround advised by engineering team is for the user to get an Enterprise license that has phone system.
I know that this is not a nice solution because it will incur additional cost but this is TEMPORARILY while waiting for the issue to get resolved which is being actively worked on by engineering team.

This isn't even a workaround since we have Microsoft 365 Enterprise E5 licenses enabled on our organization.
- scozmos1060Copper ContributorDitto, today and possibly yesterday, all my contacts from all Teams locations have disappeared. I am a trainer on a Teams rollout so .............................????
- MegaManKYBrass ContributorHappens like clock work on my locally installed Teams now (thought an update had come in that fixed it yesterday but no such luck .. if anything its worse.. What is the latest vote count on User Voice..? Anyone know? This bug is really distracting - have to be constantly logging out and back in.. makes me want to check out Zoom! 🤷:male_sign:🤦:male_sign:

Possible Fix: We have been moving employees from SFB online to Teams using PowerShell. This issue starting showing up a week or so ago. By pure chance we ran the PS command a second time on the users which seems to fix the issue. My contacts were disappearing very often during the day but now they have been fine for about 24 hours. Here is the Teams admin script we are re-running, just tweak to your company. Hope it helps:

Unfortunately this didn't solve our problem.- MegaManKYBrass Contributor
AleksiBe Dear All - I resolved the problem (for myself anyway).
And no.. I didn't move to Google Office! 8))
Although I am not able to tell you exactly what in the code caused the issue (that's for Microsoft engineering team to figure out), I can say that it has everything to do with local caching of Outlook files .ost/.pst file on your PC: I can only let you know what my set up is and what I did that seems to have reliably resolved the issue:
- I run Office 365 latest versions (I have 32 bit Outlook installed) assuming the issue is the same for 64bit.
- I have multiple email boxes and shares folders that I attach to on Exchange Online. Fairly complex.
- I run the latest version of Windows 10 64 bit.
I prefer to use Outlook and Teams locally installed on my PC. This problem started to rear it's head approximately early January 2021 for me. I went through the normal MS Support channels and although they admitted to knowing there was an issue, they were unable to resolve it - and told me I needed to report the issue on a site the called the "VOICE" in order for the MS Software Engineers to pay attention to it..
Finally 2 days ago because of other issues I was experiencing with Outlook - I decided to:
1. "turn off Caching Mode" on all my mailboxes.
2. Log out of Outlook and back in to Outlook to ensure I was connecting OK directly to the mailboxes at the Online Exchange. Then I logged back out.
2. I moved my existing cached outlook files to a safe place
Their location is C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.
3. I then went into "Control Panel" and "Mail (Microsoft Outlook)" ---> "Email Accounts".
4. Change each account to enable local caching again. This time I told it only to cache 6 months rather than "unlimited" which is what I had before.. (Maybe 1 year, 2 years would work also .. I just have not tested that).
5. Restarted Outlook and gave it a chance to re-create fresh cache files.
6. I then started Teams and decided to leave it running and test for 24-48 hours during which time I would test it.
The problem had disappeared. and it seems almost like Teams is performing a bit better.
So there you have it. The above is what has eradicated the issue I had with my "Speed Dial Contacts disappearing intermittently". So far I have gone 48 hours with Teams running locally and (knock on wood) the speed dial contacts have been stable.
I hope this helps.
- Danny-PCopper ContributorSame here, seversal users affected

Reinstalling did not solve the problem.
