Problem uploading documents in .pdf format

This is Akshay Joglekar from India. I am consistently having issues uploading a .pdf file on teams. The process starts, and then stops midway. Then after a long pause the screen says that the file cannot be uploaded.

I even tried uploading from multiple devices. Still no improvement.

What is the issue?

  • Akshay_Joglekar07  Hello,

Even I had the same problem persisting me for a few months. Even my school uses Microsoft Teams. I found a new way, but a longer one. Just upload the pdf file to any of your friend's or family's private chat. Then go to assignments, instead of choosing Upload from This Device, choose OneDrive, if it is available for your Organization. Then, open the Microsoft Teams Chat Files and choose the file to upload. πŸ™‚

There's also another way. Instead of uploading it to a private chat, just try uploading it to a channel. Instead of clicking OneDrive, choose Teams, then choose the Team and Channel you uploaded it to.

    Hope it helps you πŸ™‚

I solved this problem by deleting teams files.

If you delete teams files(you must delete recycle bin too. <= this is the most important point ), you can upload files well.

The detailed deletion method of the Teams file is well shown in the blog(and other media), so please refer to this.

I hope that this solution helps you.

    Ciao.

  • Hi,

    Just to be completely sure.

    1. Are you able to upload other file types to the same location?

    2. Does this consistently happen to all pdf files or just this one?

    3. What is the source of the file, so computer or OneDrive as an example?

    4. Are you uploading in a Chat or to the files tab of a channel or maybe even a different document library by way of a tab?

    5. Are you doing this from within the client, web or perhaps even OneDrive 4 Business.

    Thanks

    Henry

      Thanks for your concern...

Ill answer the questions one by one!

1 - Yes this issue is with all .pdf files, not just one

2 - Yep... This is the third time this has happened, with different files all three times

3 - I tried uploading from the device (i.e. My laptop HDD and my phone)

4 - I am uploading as a submission to an assignment

5 - I did this on the app on my phone and on the web via my laptop.

      Thanks a lot!!

        Hi Akshay_Joglekar07 ,

Ah OK, so this is Teams for Education. I don't suppose we know if the assignment was created in OneNote do you? Apparently this is a common error that Microsoft has yet to fix, if that is the case.

When you create an assignment in OneNote, you will not be able upload anything else to it, and you get that message.

The work around is to create the assignment in Teams first, then add the OneNote page you want to use.

The above was taken from: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/education_ms/forum/all/cannot-upload-files-to-teams-assignments-there-was/3c51c58a-f115-43ca-a252-55dbcce6808c

I must admit I am not that up on the Education use of Teams and it is hard to trial as I do not have an Educational organisation email address.

        Thanks

        Henry
