New Teams Channel Calendar App Makes Channel Meetings Easier to Access
The Teams channel calendar app highlights meetings scheduled for a calendar and makes it easier for team members to attend these events. Meetings for all channels in a team are stored in a single calendar, so the app applies a filter to display the meetings belonging to the channel it is installed into.

TonyRedmond I understand the feature doesn't work for Private channels, but it doesn't look to be working for Shared one either. I was able to create a calendar in a shared channel, and it's added as a tab, only to see it disappearing after a few seconds. Is this a bug, or it's not supposed to work for shared channels? If the latter, any plans to change this? Thanks!
- I don't work for Microsoft so can't comment for them, but I don't see how shared channels can support a channel folder. To do so would require people from other tenants being able to access the calendar folder in the group mailbox and that isn't possible.
- EarlZirkleIron ContributorWill this app ever be available to work with shared private channels? Presently, it seems it only works with the "General" channel under a team.
- Meetings for the channel calendar are stored in the group calendar in the group mailbox. Private channels don't use the group mailbox...
- EarlZirkleIron ContributorThanks, Tony. Makes sense. It would be cool if you could add a tab for a calendar though. I know there are 3rd party apps but native functionality is always better.

Is the data for Channel Calendar wholly contained within the FedRAMP O365 authorization boundary? TonyRedmond
- Yes. The items are stored within the team calendar, so they're covered there.

TonyRedmond Has there been any consideration into showing a "month" view in addition to the day, weekday, and full week views on the Teams Channel calendar? My team would find it useful to be able to toggle to "month" view to review upcoming vacations.
- Good idea. You should enter it in the Teams feedback portal so that the developers can consider it.
- JG2022Copper ContributorCan you have this app work so that all member of the group teams channel can be the creator of the meeting so that anyone can amend moved the meeting etc? I'm looking a fully working team calendar to allow us to work as a team no induvial hence the ask
- No. A meeting can only have one creator. A channel meeting is taken over by the channel (team), but the original creator remains the organizer and has the rights to change the meeting details.

TonyRedmond thanks - so can you suggest an APP that can?
- ctclark1Copper ContributorNot going to lie, I was excited to try this out, but unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to. Not only is it apparently NOT available in private channels, when I did try it in a public channel, it appears I can only create online Teams meetings specifically. I wanted to use this to create a production calendar for our theater stage crew - that is to say I just wanted to be able to add the dates and times we'll be meeting in order to build sets, program lighting, etc for a theater production. But there seems to be no way to make it NOT be a teams meeting, even when I add an actual location to the meeting.
I'm very disappointed.ctclark1 The Teams channel app doesn't support private channels. If you need full-blown channel functionality for a limited set of people, create a new team and use that.

Really disappointed in the Channel Calendar functionality. I thought this would allow me to create all meetings for a Team and then these would automatically be included for any one who is added to that team and removed for anyone who is removed from that team. It was embarrassing for me the other day when a Board member was removed from the Board and I had reschedule the entire meeting to remove him even though he was immediately removed from the Members of the Team.

TonyRedmond- Any response to this query? I have the same situation where we will use a dynamic group to manage team membership and would like previously scheduled meetings to not be accessible to people no longer a member of the team. Testing this out and it does not work. While the member removed from the team sees a message on their Teams calendar invite that they are not a member of the team they are still able to join the meeting. Thought this would dynamically update the meeting attendees based on the team membership.

- Dynamic distribution lists can be used to schedule meetings, but the individual members are always expanded at the time the meeting is scheduled.
The golden rule for Teams meetings is that you need to manage the attendee list to make sure that the right people have access to meeting content. You'll have to lobby Microsoft for change. I can't do anything more than you can.

Good morning,
We are having issue when meeting is schedule using Channel Calendar app. If we schedule any meeting on Saturday then meeting gets auto deleted from Teams channel after 5 min, but if we use any other day (including Sunday) then it stays on Teams channel calendar as normal.
I do not see any settings on how to manage options for Teams channel calendar app.
Any limitation we hit or any Teams admin center options should I search. Let us know how to resolve.
Thanks
Vipul
- Looks like a bug. I would ask Microsoft.

TonyRedmond Hi Tony.
I am using the channel calendar app. Is there a way for the entire team site to collate all of the channel calendars into one view?
Thanks
Angus
- All the events are in the group calendar. You can see that with OWA, but there's not a way in Teams to show all the events for all channels.
- hsampleCopper ContributorCan anyone view the channel calendar, or just those that are in the group? I want to be able to have a department/ team calendar that can be viewed by anyone in the company.
hsample Anyone belonging to a team can view a channel calendar. If you want a calendar that's available to anyone in the company, consider using an org-wide team (if you have less than 10.000 people in the company). If you have more, a regular team supports up to 25,000 members, but you'd have to manage the membership yourself (probably with PowerShell).
