Issues with creating resource accounts for AA and CQ
Hi All.
I have come across a curious issue that I don't seem to understand. When creating a resource account to be used for Auto Attendants or Call queues I get an error stating the account cannot be created. This only happens if i use the tenants chosen domain for the username. If i use the onmicrosoft domain it's fine. This obviously isn't an issue as far as the functionality is concerned but i just don't get why. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

I ran into the same situation. I think it's because there is no On-Prem Teams and it sounds like your domain is still on-prem.
I had to use the onmicrosoft.com as well.
Also watch out using on-prem groups for Teams as those accounts will not be allowed to be added to on-prem sync groups.
- Hi BenRooke
Does it throw an error? Have a screenshot?
How about if you create it on the onmicrosoft.com domain, add an alias of your custom domain and then flip the primary SMTP. Does it work then?

ChrisHoardMVP No, i didn't take a screen shot on the basis that it worked with the onmicrosoft details.. The error produced simply stated that it was unable to create the account at that time.. As a note this was while creating an AA, and creating the resource account from the setup rather than creating a resource account first and assigning it to the AA.... if that makes sense....
As it did not interfere with the functionality of the AA/CQ I didn't give it a second thought. It's just a little confusing..
- BenRooke - thanks for that. Could you
1.) Retest that and see if it errors again
2.) Create a resource separately and link an AA to it to see if that works
Sounds like a bug. I just need a confirm before raising it.
