Cannot hide gallery in "focus on content" or "full screen" mode
We are sorry to hear that you have experienced this issue with focus mode in meetings. The feature team is aware of the issue and has an internal fix in testing. We'll keep you posted as soon as the fix is rolling out.
Update: Fix is now rolling out to production.
Agree with all these comments. This is a huge step backwards, especially on a 13" or 15" laptop when someone else is sharing the screen and 1/5th of your screen is wasted with black space (right side primarily, but also the top and the bottom).
To me "Full Screen" means full screen. Period.
Similarly with "Focus on Content" - that should actually focus on the content with a very minimalist menu and personal avatars/faces.
Why can't there just be a full screen with hover menu (i.e. you move your mouse toward the top of the screen and the menu and buttons appear). Every video player on the planet does this. It does not need to be re-invented because it is a perfect solution. Unlike wasted black space......
