Why is Excel macros sometimes missing ?
I have an excel file with a lot of rectangular shapes showing a tree structure for a family. When the user clicks on one of the rectangulat shapes the 'story' of that person opens up in a Word dokum...
It might be due to different versions of Word app. Try to open with the latest version.

I checked for updates on WORD and in fact there WAS an update ... and I started the updating !
I think it updates the whole MSOffice bacause I would update Excel but got a message that it already was updated.
Unfortunately is didn't cure the problem !
This morning I just COPIED the Excel-file from my Windows 10 machine (where it works nicely !) to the indows 11 machine ... oops ... a lot of macros then is missing in the menu but the ARE present in the VBA editor ... and they work there too !!
What the BEEP is wrong here ... and WHY does MS-staff not correct this fatal error ... missing macros hasd been a problem for YEARS !
