Outlook 365 Group email quirk

This is my first time using this forum, so I hope I am doing this correctly.

I will try to explain the issue, but let me know if you are confused

Quirk – When we move a specific (private) group (with guest) emails into a specific folder, all subsequent emails bypass the Inbox, and are automatically redirected into the specific folder.

I have done research on the issue and possible resolutions, but it nothing has worked. I have a ticket open with our Exchange (Outlook email) Administrators, and they are stumped.

We “believe” the issue is because all these emails are being sent as “conversations”. The moment a conversation is moved, all succeeding emails follow wherever the conversation resides.

I have turned off conversation in both web-mail and Outlook, but the emails continue to follow “conversation” mode.

Would it be possible for the specific group to turn-off the conversation feature for that group?

Looking for suggestions how to fix.

Any information/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • Just to clarify, by Outlook 365 do you mean OWA (the web client) or desktop Outlook (part of O365 desktop suite)? God, dont you just love the mess marketing folks create...

Most likely you have created a rule that moves the messages. In OWA, you can check those under Options -> Mail -> Automatic processing -> Inbox and Sweep rules. You can rule out the "conversation" scenario if you simply start a new email thread - it will be another conversation.

      Dear Vasil Michev,

Thank you for the quick reply. And to answer the question "do you mean OWA (the web client) or desktop Outlook (part of O365 desktop suite)" - the answer is yes :). ... This issue occurs in both.

I should have stated there are no rules. I also check the registry to see if there is something there. I also used the /cleanrules switch and finally did MAPI. Nothing worked.
